Hi I'm Matt

I grew up all over the United States and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and am a father of five, four daughters and a son. I work as a court reporter taking verbatim testimony in legal proceedings. I love sports and working out at the gym. I also love music and would love to write my own. My wife and kids are my main hobby. We love to do things together. They are growing up quickly, but still love to "hang with the fam."

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church right before I was born and so I have been raised "in the church." However, there was a time I was no longer a member of the church and found myself struggling to find what I truly believed in. After praying and studying the words of the Savior, I went through a process similar to those who find the Gospel later in life. I read the Book of Mormon and followed the challenge in Moroni to ask in faith if the things I had read were not true. At that time I knew that if I truly wanted to be with my Savior and family again for eternity, the only way was through baptism by one who had the authority. I know that authority was restored through Joseph Smith. I know that the happiest times in my life are when I am following the commandments. I am grateful that there is a living prophet that we can continue to get counsel from our Heavenly Father through him. Lastly, I love this gospel because it has a way of providing opportunities to serve others in which, more often than not, my weaknesses are revealed wherein I can pray for the strength to overcome and have miracles happen in my life. There are enough characters available for me to describe the life changing events that have happened because of my knowledge of the Gospel and the Savior's atonement for me. I hope that anyone reading this will put aside any preconceived notions about what this church is or isn't and trust in your Heavenly Father to guide you in the right direction...He will. And you will be a blessing to all who come in contact with you because of it.

How I live my faith

My responsibility is within my ward or congregation. I work with the young men between the ages of 12-13. Because of that I get to experience the Boy Scout program that our church is very active in. My favorite part of this interaction with the boys is to watch them grow over the two years that I get to work with them. I have learned so much about endurance and faith from these young men and I am grateful every day that I get to spend helping them learn more.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Matt
I agree wholeheartedly. We need to speak up to let those who make the laws know that there are more people against pornography than for it. Show more Show less
