Hi I'm Ron

I'm a son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a cop and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired Police Officer and I am currently the Rangemaster for the same agency I retired from. I love to shoot and especiallly love to teach others how to shoot better. I like to hunt and to fish. I like sports but I am finding as I get older the harder it is to participate now. I recently learned how to scuba dive and would really like to get more involved with. I have been married for almost 30 years and have 4 children. I now have 3 grand children and one more on the way. I love to be with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life. I loved going to church and primary as a boy. When I was about twelve my family fell away from the church and I could tell as a family we were not very happy. I had a dear Uncle that just returned from his mission and started getting me to go back to church again. I went on a Mission to Virginia. I learned to serve the Lord with all my heart and was blessed with many opportunities to teach good people and see them become converted to Jesus Christ. I think as I witnessed their change of heart, it helped streghthen my testimony of the Savior and how he knows each of us. I know we have a Heavenly Father, he knows me, I know he stands ready to bless me as I remain faithful to his commandments. I know Jesus Christ lives. I am grateful for his love for us by atoning for our sins which gives us the opportunity to repent and become better. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. I know that we have a Prophet today in Thomas Monson. I also know that this knowledge is not exclusive but that anyone can know these things like I do.

How I live my faith

In the LDS church, we have many opportunities to serve. I have been a teacher for the little children, and the teenage kids. I have had the opportunity to serve with my peers and the entire congregation. I especially love to go to member's homes (called home teaching). I had a family I home taught for about three years. The wife was a member and the husband was not. I was allowed to come over as long as I didn't talk about "church stuff". Luckly this good brother and I loved to hunt and fish. We actually became very good friends and went on several hunting and fishing trips together. As I contunued to go over every month he started asking more questions about the church so I would answer his questions and soon we were talking about "church stuff". They moved out of ward (congregation) and he began taking the missionary discusions and got baptized a few months later. At his baptism, he told me I was one of the big reasons that he joined the church because I was a normal guy and it was ok to be a normal guy and be a member of the church. I am a normal guy but I am also a normal guy who loves the Lord. I love to serve in his church. I have found that as I help others come unto Christ, it changes my life as well.
