Hi I'm Chic Barker

Born and raised in Salt Lake City. Worked for ZCMI and Napa Auto Parts. Live in Nebraska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Married Joan Lind in 1948 and raised three children, two sons and one daughter. I was a drummer from 1944 to 1958 in Utah and Idaho. Went to work for Genuine Parts Company (Napa) travelling throughout Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Nevada. Transferred to Nebraska in 1985 travelling throughout Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Missouri. I am a model railroad enthusiast with memebrship in the Nebraska Iowa Railroaders Association and am a railroad merit badge counselor for the boy scouts.

Why I am a Mormon

Born and raised in the church and baptized in 1938. However due to job related travel I became inactive for many years but I have always had a testimony of the church through the teachings of Joseph Smith. During my inactivity I kept a firm belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Due to the monthly visit from assigned home teachers I came back into activity and have been an active memebr ever since. Throughout my life I ahve had a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ, the propher Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon. I also have a testimony of the Home Teaching program of the church.

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly where I serve as the president of the Gospel Doctrines class during Sunday School. I am an active Home Teacher and routinely complete all my assigned visits which has grown to be a true love of service in the church. I also work work with the young men in the scouting program. I am frequently called upon to render service in the form of priesthood blessings for the sick or merely to provide transportation for those in need. Due to health limitations I can only the temple with assistance and then mainly to help the yough during baptismal sessions.
