Hi I'm Piper

My family is my life. My camera is my outlet. My house is a mess and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter of God, a wife of the best man I know (20 years), a mother of 6 fantastic kids (my greatest blessing), and a self-taught (still learning) photographer. I did graduate from college, but for now I pretend like I'm domestically gifted by quilting, knitting and sometimes (when it can't be avoided) doing laundry. I do cook too, but only out of necessity because, although I truly appreciate good food, I just can’t seem to develop a passion for creating it...no matter how hard I try. When I can find the time, I’m a sucker for great literature and I dream of lying around for hours with a good book in my hands - heck, as long as I'm dreaming it should probably be on a beach somewhere. My secret fantasy involves me writing a great novel, or better – creating an inspiring, photojournalistic book about MOTHERHOOD, but for now, I’m just too busy being a mom.

Why I am a Mormon

Because 14 years ago, despite holding many preconceived notions and false ideas about Mormons, I made the best decision of my life and agreed to meet with missionaries. I was prepared to be offended, but instead I was pleasantly surprised that what they taught was what I had always known to be true, but could never find in a church. I am a Mormon because I wanted to know for myself what Gods plan was for me and after searching for several years I found the answer in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because every second I have spent as a Latter Day Saint has confirmed to me the truthfulness of this gospel and the reality of Gods love for me. I am a Mormon because I am a mom and I cherish the undeniable blessing that comes from raising my children with the knowledge of their savior and His love and sacrifice for them. I am a Mormon because of the eternal blessings my family shares as members of His church. Quite simply, I am a Mormon because Mormons are the best people I know!

How I live my faith

I try to live every day in a way that I can proudly carry the name of Christ and that His name is safe with me. I try to serve others (starting with and especially my family) and use any talents I may have to help others. I try to have the motivation and courage to make a difference if I can and to have patience if I can not. I try to live as an example to my children and to show them what it means to call yourself a Mormon and how important it is to love their neighbors and to love God. I try to live in a way that will help my family (parents, brothers and sisters etc.) understand the blessings I enjoy because they are watching me as the only Mormon in my family. I love working with the young woman in our church who are experiencing adolescents with the knowledge I never had as a youth and who amaze me with their strength and their courage to stand out and to stand tall. Mostly, I try every day to follow the commandants and to follow the prophet and to live with gratitude for the blessings I have as a member of this church.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

The best way I know to increase our faith in Jesus Christ is to learn about him through His scriptures and prophets and then to get busy following Him and trying to be like Him. As we try to model our lives after His example we can gain an understanding of who He was (and is) and our faith in Him grows and suddenly we are a better person because of Him. Like magic, the more we exercise our faith in Him the more we are able to recognize His miracles in our life and in turn the more our faith grows. Show more Show less
