Hi I'm Melissa

I'm Native to Arizona. I'm a Wife, Mother, and a true country girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona. I was also born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Two things which I feel very blessed to be a part of! I was 19 when I married the love of my life, and we have been blessed with 5 beautiful children. I am very fortunate to be able to stay home and raise my children. It is what I have always wanted to do. When I was in 6th grade, my class was assigned to write a paper on what we wanted to do when we grow up. Six years later, when I graduated from High School, I was given the paper that I wrote. All it talked about was being a wife and a mother! Nothing else was important to me then, and nothing is more important to me now. However, I have many interests outside of family life. I love playing basketball and volleyball. I also love coaching basketball. I truly enjoy watching my children in their different activities. I enjoy my Dance Cardio exercise classes, as well as other fitness workouts. I enjoy sewing, although my sewing skills could use improvement. I enjoy riding horses with my hubby and children. I like going on bicycle rides with the family. I've recently been learning photography and am loving it. I love making my house a home, a place where my children want to be. I strive to make it a refuge from the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I consider myself blessed. Being raised in the church gave me knowledge and guidance to help me through life. I was taught that through challenges and trials, we can become stronger spiritually. That, everyone makes bad choices sometimes, but they can be forgiven through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The consequences of bad choices make me want to choose the right. I have learned that by serving others, I am built up to feel better about myself. Service is what life is all about. I was blessed to have parents that taught this to me through their example of serving others. I have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and Redeemer. I know He lives, that He loves me (even when I am weak), and that He died so that I can someday live with him again. I am so grateful for the scriptures that teach me about Him. That give me an example of how to live my life. Being a member of this church is not only about going to church. It's about living my life the way that Christ would want me to live my life. It's who I am. My religion IS my life.

How I live my faith

Daily life for myself and my family involve individual and family prayer and scripture study. It is a way for us to forget the things of the world, if even for a brief moment, and focus on growing spiritually. Each Monday night, we get together as a family and have a meeting. This is where we go over our calendar for the week, have an uplifting lesson, sing songs, play games and have a treat. The children love Monday nights and look forward to them. Mealtime is huge at our house. We try to sit down as a family at the dinner table two times a day. This is so important to us because it gives us a chance to talk about what has gone on during the day, therefore strengthening our relationships. These are all things that strengthen our family as well as our faith! Service is a huge part of my life and there are many types of service. Serving in the church has brought me so much joy!  I have served in many positions throughout my life. My favorite position has been teaching and leading the youth. Teenage years can be hard to get through. I love getting to watch them grow, not only physically and mentally, but spiritually as well. We have such strong youth! They amaze me with their knowledge of the gospel. Sometimes, I feel as though they are the ones teaching me. I also love serving friends and neighbors. I love that my husband loves to serve as well. I love the word "Charity", for it is the pure love of Christ. I think of this word often to put myself in check. Am I living my life with Charity? Is the light of Christ radiating out of me? I am not perfect, by far, but just like everyone else, I try. I try to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ.
