Hi I'm Velma

I am a retired library clerk, a grandma, an artist, a poet, singer in choirs, an avid reader, a genealogist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have one daughter and 4 grandchildren who live closeby. One of them ,my grandson, just got back from his L.D.S. mission to California. I currently volunteer at the local Family History Center and at the L.D.S. Temple nearby. I enjoyed my job at the library but being retired gives me much more freedom. I may start writing and illustrating children's book or find something else to do. I enjoy learning and improving myself. I also have two of the world's most beautiful cats, who greatly enrich my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon since I was 30 years old. My husband met one when he was in Viet Nam and was impressed by him so much that he came back and called the church to ask more questions. He had seen the Visitors Center in Salt Lake City and was very impressed by that too. We were visited by Mormon Elders and talked to them and studied their information. I was disatisfied with the doctrine I had found in other churches and asked the Elders a lot of questions, myself. I wanted to know God and the truth so I gladly studied and prayed and talked to them for a while. I found that they could answer all my questions and give me the information I needed. They were terrific young men and I started attending their church and was soon a baptised member. Best decision I ever made! My marriage didnt last but my testimony of the true church has lasted over 30 years. If you are looking for the truth, this is the place. If you want to know Heavenly Father, His son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, this is where you will find them. Try it. You will like it.

How I live my faith

As I previousily stated, I work parttime in the local Family History Center and the local Temple. I sing in the local choir, visit with women in the church and go to single adult potlucks and activities. I have taught children's classes but am not currently doing that. I try to do what Heavenly Father wants me to do and appreciate and enjoy the blessings He has given me. I try to keep His commandments and be like Him, as much as possible, so that I can see Him again, someday.
