Hi I'm Afton

I'm a professional dancer/dance teacher. I am a wife. I am expecting my first baby. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in wonderful Utah. I have been dancing ever since I was 2 years old and have trained in all styles of dance; jazz, ballet, tap, and ballroom. It is through dance that I met my amazing husband. He is a singer/dancer as well and we used to dance together when we were young, but we never dated. It wasn't until a couple of years later, that he came to see me in a show I was performing in that the spark was lit and we started dating. Soon afterwards we realized we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and got sealed for all time and eternity in the beautiful Mount Timpanogos Temple. Since then my husband has graduated from college, started a new job, we moved to Arizona and now are expecting our first little girl. Life is wonderful and we can't wait to meet our baby!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was taught the gospel principles ever since I was young. I had an amazing family, ward and friends that made it pretty easy to live the gospel. But just as life is, life wasn't always easy. It was during those hard times while I was a teenager that I turned to my Heavenly Father for comfort. I always knew the church was true, but it was in those trying times that I learned how deeply my Heavenly Father loves me and that He has a plan for me. Then when I turned 18, I had a wonderful opportunity to be a dancer in a professional show, however that show was in Las Vegas, Nevada. After praying hard and learning what my Heavenly Father wanted me to do, I moved to Las Vegas, started dancing in the show and was completely by myself. I was the only member in my show and learned quickly that I was not in "Utah" anymore. It was in that crazy place, that I had to really decide if I was going to live the principles of the gospel. It wasn't a hard decision. I am a Mormon, because I decided that is the only way to live my life. The peace, the comfort, the truth, the guidance and the love is what made it so undeniable to me. This gospel has determined everything in my life and it is everything to me.

How I live my faith

Being in the dance world and TV industry, I learned that I had to live my faith. What that meant to me was actually saying and doing the things that I claimed to believe in. Saying my prayers and reading my scriptures daily. Going to church every week and always being worthy to go to the temple. I found that I was typically the only member that most people knew and that made me realize that at all times I was representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Every conversation, every outfit I wore, and how I spent my time, were all examples of how I lived my faith. Although I am now an expecting mom and not doing as much as I used to, I still am living my life the same way. I try to be a good example of the church at all times and in all places, and I hope to teach all of these things to our baby girl.
