Hi I'm Jenny

I'm a nerd. I'm a feminist. I'm a computer programmer and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Tokyo, Japan with three brothers. Soon after I was baptized at age 8, my family moved to the United States. My parents divorced when I was a teenager - while tough at the time, it was a valuable experience in learning to love my family (including the addition of a wonderful step-mom!). I've always been interested in science and technology, and while my original career goal was to be a forensic scientist, I ended up falling in love with programming and instead went into computer science. I married soon after getting my bachelor's degree and worked for Google for a number of years before the birth of my daughter. I'm now a stay-at-home mom. I enjoy life with my husband and daughter, whether that be going for walks in the local neighborhood or taking a yearly trip to a new corner of the earth. I enjoy dungeons & dragons, video games, swing dancing, my guppies, scifi & fantasy books & shows, local theater, and board games.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Plan of Happiness (http://mormon.org/plan-of-happiness/) - the doctrine that we lived with God before earth, there there is a plan for us now, and that there is more to our progression after death. I love the concepts of Heavenly Parents (including a Heavenly Mother as well as a Heavenly Father) and eternal families. While there are plenty of things I question and struggle with, I also believe in personal revelation as well as a living prophet.

How I live my faith

I try to live the law of Love. My local congregation gives me plenty of opportunities to meet and love and serve people I otherwise would never encounter. I invite friends and community into my home for good solid board-gaming fun, and every day I try to refine myself and my interactions with others.
