Hi I'm Dana

I love experiencing the beauty of the outdoors through hiking, playing soccer, and watching thunderstorms. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the baby in a family of eight, which means that I was pampered growing up. I've played roughly eight years of soccer and defense is my strongest position. Since I love to be outdoors, I've taken a recent liking to hiking and backpacking. One of my goals is to backpack through most of the national parks in the western states, with Alaska being my capstone. I have a passion to understand the world that I live on which is one of the reasons why I am a Junior in College studying Geology. I would like to further my understanding in the driving forces behind volcanoes and how this Earth was created.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eighteen years old I finally decided to find out if my parent's religion was what I wanted. I took the challenge to read The Book of Mormon and then to ask God if it was true or not. My answer from the Holy Ghost was "Duh! You've always known". And He was right. My entire life, I was raised in this faith, and looking back now I've seen how this church has helped me grow into a strong, intelligent, and unique daughter of God. I was able to hold on to my standards during the rough years of high school by understanding Heavenly Father's gospel that was taught to me by prophets, and I know what direction I need to go to find the most happiness in this life. Slowly, piece by piece, my knowledge of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, and modern prophets has brought me peace and joy in this world. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith" - Galatians 5:22. This church is good because Jesus Christ is the Head of our church.

How I live my faith

I don't understand all of God's ways, but this I do know, if He asks me to do something, I do it. This might mean teaching a class at church, calling a friend because I feel prompted to, or just smiling and turning the other cheek when someone tries to hurt me. Jesus Christ is my perfect role model, and each day I try to become more like Him one step at a time.
