Hi I'm Laurie

I'm a city girl turned country. I'm a mother of seven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the city and married a farmer. I had no idea what that life was about. I learned so many things about myself and life as I learned to garden, quilt, can, make bread and most everything else. The nearest store was about 40 miles away! We have seven children, and life got busy! We love to go for walks in the hills, make campfires, attend our children's ball games and be apart of our community. In a small town everyone pitches in! Three of our seven children are married now, and we have 8 grand kids. Life just gets better, not easier, but better! I'm crazy about my husband. He's a rock. He likes things simple and I've found I do too! Most mornings we're out early for a jog. We even enter an occasional "fun run" just to prove to ourselves we can! Staying healthy is something we work at now. Spending this time together is a favorite part of my day.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It helps me make sense of my life. Knowing I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father and that I lived with Him before I was born, gives my life purpose. It gives me direction and guides my choices. I know He wants me to be happy. I have learned that as I keep His commandments I have more joy in life and confidence in those things that are good and right. I have found more HAPPINESS! I know that God hears my prayers and I'm grateful for this experience of life to learn and progress. I know that ultimately my purpose is to become like my Savior and through His Atonement, be found worthy to return and live with Him again, along with all my loved ones and family who also claim these blessings because of the atonement of our loving Savior.

How I live my faith

Right now my husband and I are serving in the Arizona, Mesa Mission. He is serving as Mission President. We did not apply for this assignment, but feel so blest to have the opportunity to be Missionaries! I love to tell people about this restored gospel, and share my witness that our Heavenly Father lives and our Savior has provided a way for us to return as families to live with Him again. In the mission we have responsibility for the young missionaries who dedicate 2 years or 18 months of their lives to sharing the gospel. They are valiant and faithful servants. We have seen many miracles and answers to prayers as people from all backgrounds have exercised faith in Jesus Christ and been baptized by someone holding the Priesthood Authority of God. Some of our kids are here in Arizona with us. Moving is always a challenging experience, but for us leaving our small town and moving to the city was a leap of faith. We cherish the sweet opportunities we've had as we have met many new and diverse people. This world is full of many good people. We love to help others find the happiness that comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.
