Hi I'm Emily

I'm a missionary and a student. I'm a daughter and a sister. I'm a musician, a writer, a runner, and an adventurer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I believe that life is a beautiful gift, and that our Heavenly Father has a wonderful plan of happiness and salvation for each and every one of His children, contingent upon our willingness to obey. The things that bring me greatest joy are my family, music, learning, sharing my talents, and the gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I believe and have seen in my own life that true, pure joy and peace come only in and through the Savior and His gospel. I am serving a mission for 18 months in El Salvador Santa Ana, and I look forward to sharing what I know and love with the people there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have gained a strong personal witness of my Savior Jesus Christ and of His gospel, which is taught in the LDS Church. I have prayed to know whether these things are true. I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have studied in my heart and mind the things that I have read, heard, and felt. I have come to know for myself that this is the way to happiness and joy. It did not happen overnight or in an instant. It was not sudden or immediate. Rather, it came after years of patience, faith, and determination to know personally. Today, I can say without a doubt that I know and believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's true church on the earth. I know that my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ lives and loves each of us individually and completely. I know that he suffered all things, died, and was resurrected for us, so that we can be made clean again and return home to our Heavenly Father. I know that our Father loves and knows us as well, and that He has a marvelous plan in store. I know that families can be forever. I know these things stronger or more completely than any other truth I have learned, felt, or experienced in my life. My greatest hope and prayer is that I can bring others to this knowledge.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the way that I speak, act, love, and smile. I am truly happy, and I know that this comes from the knowledge and truth that I have in my life because of my church. I have faced a number of difficult trials in my life, and I am sure there will be many more to come. When others ask me how I manage to always stay so happy and why I seem to have a light about me, I respond that my faith gives me the peace that I have. I know this to be true. The Savior said, in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." He is the way. I am likewise grateful for the understanding that I have that my family and I may be together forever. My faith truly brings me joy, greater than any worldly peace or comfort.
