Hi I'm Sierra Schumann

I come from a broken home and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I am the youngest of 6 children. My parents divorced when I was only 4 years of age. I met my husband when I was 22 years old and we have 3 children whom I adore. I have an Associate Degree in Baking and Pastries with a passion for cake decorating. I also enjoy quilting, singing, cooking, baking, movies, and reading teen novels.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it changed my life. I was raised in the faith, but I found the truthfulness of the gospel on my own when I was about 20 years old after almost 4 years of inactivity. When I was 16 years old, a leader in my ward made me feel unimportant and not wanted so I stopped going to church. That was the first step down a road of wrong choices that lead me to despair and, eventually, the truth. When I was 18 years of age my dear cousin was murdered and I became angry and depressed. I wished that I had died instead of him. I felt like it would have saved my family all the pain. I continued to make wrong choices that sent me further into a deep depression as we moved from my childhood home. One night the bishopric of our new ward came by to welcome us into the ward and as the bishop shook my hand I saw in his facial expression and eyes that he knew something was terribly wrong with me and that I was in pain. That moment stayed with me for months until I heard that my previous bishop from my childhood ward was ill with a rare kind of cancer and that there was no hope for him. I went to see him one day and talked to him about what I was feeling. He gave me some words of encouragement and his love. That night I called the bishop of my new ward. I met with my current bishop that night and started my repentance process. During that time I discovered for myself the truthfulness of the gospel and the gift of the atonement and the powerful blessing of forgiveness. I found my own testimony of this gospel through experiences that I now wouldn't change because I learned so much of who I was and what made me the person I am today. I have never been happier. When I live this gospel I am happy.

How I live my faith

I currently hold a calling in my ward as a teacher for the youth and I LOVE IT!!! I primarily teach the young ladies between the ages of 14 and 16. Though my calling is for that age group, I love spending time with all the the youth of the ward and getting to know them. I love to see them every week! They hold a special place in my heart. I love each an every one of them and I strive to be the leader that they need.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Sierra Schumann
Because it too is the word of God. It is a perfect companion to The Book Of Mormon. It teaches us of God and his prophets, such as Moses and Noah, and His gospel on the Earth before Christ and the life of Christ and His teachings and establishment of the gospel on the Earth during the time Christ was on the Earth. The Book Of Mormon teaches us of the gospel on the Earth after Christ's death. Without ALL these teachings, we wouldn't know who Christ was and what he taught. We wouldn't know our Father in Heaven the way we do. Because of the Bible we have the full understanding in what God has planned for us. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Sierra Schumann
There is a scripture in the Holy Bible, James 1:5-6 that says that if you want to know the truth then ask God. If you HONESTLY pray and ask God if Mormonism is true, he will show you the way. I did this when I was 18 years old even though I was raised a Mormon. I had to find out for my self and when I knelt to pray, he answered my prayer. As I read The Book Of Mormon, I know that it is true. I feel it in my heart that this is the true gospel. Show more Show less
