Hi I'm Roxanne

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 6 children. After our first 4 were grown and our last was leaving for college, we decided to adopt a 12 year old boy. A couple of years later we adopted another 11 year old boy. They have been a wonderful addition to our family. Our youngest is a senior in high school this year. I'm now a full-time college student studying web development and software design.

Why I am a Mormon

My family was less active when I was young. I wanted to be part of the church very badly and realized it was a decision that I'd have to make myself. I asked for, and received, scriptures for my 8th birthday. I started reading the Old Testament and the stories of the creation and of Noah captured my heart. I have always wanted to be a member of the church, now more than ever. After the many trials of my life, I believe in Christ more fully, and I believe this is His church, which teaches His commandments, and is lead by His prophets, through the power of His priesthood.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day, in the little things I do--like controlling my anger, listening better, and giving a helping hand whenever I see a need. I love the fact that in our church, callings are changed often, and we are called upon to serve different members in different ways. We may serve the teenagers for a couple of years, then be called upon to serve young children, lead the music, or chair taking monthly meals to a homeless shelter. Right now I'm serving the four and five year olds. I teach them stories about Jesus Christ and about how they can serve and love their families and friends. They are rambunctious, adorable children that have great compassion for others and a desire to learn about God. I come home from church each week laughing about something one of them said, or just happy to have spent the last two hours with such fun, cute children.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely! This is the question I get asked the most. Sometimes people outside of our church are taught that we worship Mormon, Joseph Smith, or some other man or prophet. While we have the highest regard for these prophets or men, we do not worship them. We worship Christ only. We pray to our Father in Heaven, in Christ's name, and we believe we are saved only through the merits and atonement of our Savior. Show more Show less
