Hi I'm Cory

I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm kind of a "life in a blender" type guy. I love doing anything as long as it doesn't involve hours of paperwork. I enjoy rock climbing, cooking, and any kind of shooting sport. I've had this passion armature film making since I was like five. I run, I lift, I dance... Well kinda. I waste a lot of time writing. I write just about anything from music to theology. I play guitar, I sing tenor in a choir, and screech a mean violin ( actually, it's getting better). When I was kid I won the state fair youth harmonica contest two years in a row. I'm an eagle scout, a dreamer, and a classic American hero. Trying new foods is one of my favorite hobbies. I can't spell worth beans. I drive a clunky car, love Fig Newtons, and can relate anything in life to Star Wars. I think I might also suffer from chronic insomnia. Before I received my mission call I attended a community college with intentions to eventually become a pediatrician, loved my job as an assistant manager at an Ice cream parlor/restaurant, and worked as a professional caregiver for special needs children. For the next two years I will be serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Latter-Day Saint family. I was brought up in the church from the very beginning. My wonderful parents worked it seamlessly into everything we did. From doing homework to cleaning the house, there were always gospel principles in charge. My time-outs (which were abundant) always seemed to end with a beautiful sermon. Some of my earliest memories are going to ward activities, stake sporting events, and sitting on the couch reading scriptures with Dad. It was all just a part of life for us. I haven't had many major life changing experience that helped me learn that the The Church of Jesus Christ was true. My conversion happens everyday when I open my scriptures and study them. When I kneel down and just talk with my Heavenly Father I know it's true. I know it. I'm a Mormon because that's what keeps me sane in these interesting times. The moment I get casual in my religion feelings of depression and discouragement set in and I find myself a slave to my fears, but when I am focused on what the restored gospel brings I know I can do anything. For me the gospel is the difference between living life or simply waiting for death.

How I live my faith

For me it's a romance. Some guys fall in-love with sports, some guys fall in-love with money, some guys fall in-love with themselves. I fell in-love with the gospel. It's what I think about all day long. It's the first factor I look at when making decisions. My heart breaks whenever I'm separated from it. It just makes me happy. I find myself doing a lot of praying and studying about everything in life. I try to just be kind and help other people. I think about how Christ would act in my situation and then just do it, because I know that it will make me happy. The most precious moments in my life are the ones where I know I made someone feel closer to God. If I can help someone feel His love for them by serving them, teaching them, or maybe just sitting and listening to them it makes my day. I feel like I have the biggest family in the world because the gospel just allows me to love everyone meet!
