Hi I'm Vi

I grew up on the Arizona Desert. Though I suffer many things in my life, I seek for daily gratitude and joy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for nearly 40 years. Our marriage hasn't been easy, but we have stuck together through everything and have achieved happiness. We had limited finances, but with courage and faith we had a big family. We have taught our children to love and help each other. I have had many trials in my life, but serve as much as I can. I have health problems which cause pain and limit my ability to serve. But as I have turned to the Lord in my sufferings, I am learning to feel gratitude and see the joy in every day of my life. I love meeting with people one-on-one and helping them to trust the Lord and to find emotional balance in their lives. I love being creative. I enjoy working with color in any form! I enjoy painting portraits and designing humanitarian quilts. I do genealogy and collect stories of faith and character. I love learning new things. I dabble in graphic design and computer art and animation. I love taking classes and learning new things. I love spending time with my grandchildren in moderation and help take care of my father. My life has not been what I have expected, but it has been what I needed to help me to stretch and grow and to become a better person.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church, I came to know it is true a little at a time as I made the choice to have faith and to keep the commandments of God. I read the Book of Mormon as a teenager and because I know it is true, I stuck with the church. My life has been all uphill, but God has put me in places where I can love and serve and grow. The gospel has given me substance to my life and purpose and happiness. I am a Mormon because I believe it! I live it and I know that it is the only way to be happy. At times it is hard to go through the suffering and trust the Lord that He will make something good out of this trial in my face that seems to be lasting forever. But it has happened over and over again. It sometimes takes years for me to see the good that has come from the trials of my past, but as I trust, I see that His power transcends all. He can turn anything, no matter how horrid or severe, into something good. As long as I hang on to the truth with everything I've got, God sees me through and will make something beautiful of my life.

How I live my faith

I serve in the Women's Group in our ward. I love visiting with the women individually and sharing faith and testimony. I enjoy creating the newsletter for the women and helping others with extra to share and connect with those who lack.
