Hi I'm Gene

I enjoy hiking, biking, rock climbing and exploring new places. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, father of four, recent grandpa and an aerospace engineer. I enjoy hiking, biking, rock climbing, snow shoeing, gliders, and ice cream. I plan to try small boat sailing. I grew up in Northern California and moved to the Pacific Northwest at the start of my career.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home and went to church because it was expected, but was permitted to attend other religious services. Most of what I was taught made sense to me intellectually and I readily accepted the doctrines and enjoyed the fellowship of other Mormons, but had no real spiritual witness or testimony of my own. My close friend belonged to another Christian faith and we took turns attending each others services to broaden our horizons. At age 17 I was at a crossroads. I knew in a few years I would be asked to serve as a missionary, but knew I couldn't be so hypocritical as to teach others something I did not know myself to be true. I prayed long and hard for a confirmation. After much pondering and sincere prayer I received powerful witness that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ as taught to me growing up was true. With this and subsequent experiences my life has been forever changed. I'm a Mormon because the doctrines of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ ring true to me, bring me happiness and draw me closer to God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time trying to better serve my family, friends and neighbors. The church offers many opportunities to help others in need and to practice the teachings of Jesus Christ. I study the revealed word of God as preserved in scripture. I accept and fulfill assignments that help bless the lives of church members in our area.
