Hi I'm Calleen

I am the mother of 5 children and 7 grandchildren. I like to garden, play piano, the theatre, movies and dancing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have raised 5 wonderful children. Each one unique and each having their own special challenges. As a young girl I learned to be competitive in order to survive my two older brothers. I was naturally athletic and did anything I could to show them "being a girl "wasn't so bad. Baseball, football, basketball, climbing trees, etc. My mother saw my creative side and started piano studies and dance lessons. I had an active imagination and was always making up plays and stories. In college I was a ballet major with an emphasis in Musical Theatre and although after marriage, I basically was a stay at home Mom, over the years I taught ballet on the university level, ballet & jazz in private studios and accompanied ballet classes on the piano. Sometimes when money was tight, trading playing piano for my daughters dance classes, was a good trade. As a family, music has been a big part of our lives. We'd put music on and dance in the kitchen, laugh and sing. We always had music playing when we would travel in the car. My husbands parents owned lake property and many summers were spent water skiing, boating, swimming and nights sitting around the bon fire. My 3rd child is a special needs child and I have been caring for her now for 27 years. She has brought great joy and love to our family. In addition to being a full time care giver, I continue my musical interests by teaching piano in my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the blessing of being born into a loving family with wonderful parents. Parents of faith , parents who desired the best for me in life. Parents who taught me by example from a young age about a loving Heavenly Father. I came to know that I was his child. His spiritual offspring and that my life has a purpose. I know God loves me and cares about what happens to me and wants to hear from me daily. I was taught to pray and to have faith in God and his plan of happiness. I learned how important families were in the eyes of our heavenly father and that families are forever. As I grew to adulthood I came to realize for myself that the things I was taught as a child really were true. I could see different walks of life and compare different view points. Through study and prayer and stumbling from unwise choices, I have come to know that God appeared to the young boy prophet Joseph Smith in the form of a glorified Man. And that by His side stood His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. That the Book of Mormon is a divinely inspired record, made by the prophets of the ancient peoples who inhabited the American continent for centuries before and after the time of Christ. That the priesthood power is once again on the earth. The authority to act in God's name. I have come to know considering the conditions about us, industrial strife, unrest at home, wars aboard, poverty, famine, fear gripping the hearts of men and a feeling of insercurity and uncertainlty that God has not left us alone to fair for ourselves. We have a living prophet and apostles to guide and direct us through these troubled times, if we will just listen and follow their counsel we can have peace. Even the peace that God' gives. He is real. He lives and he hears and answers our prayers. This I know.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every day. It is important to me to be a caring neighbor. One who is there to help and give assistance when needed. My husband and I will often bake chocolate-chip cookies on a Sunday evening and distribute them in the neighborhood. I direct the choir at church and I love it. I enjoy searching for appropriate music to sing. Music that will inspire and testify of Christ and other gospel principles. I also sub on the piano when ever needed. I have organized some adult dances to give adults an alternative for their date nights and a place where they can go and dance that isn't filled with smoke or alcohol. I have had the opportunity to direct and choreograph several broadway musicals that have been produced by the church locally. I strive to be kind to all I meet and to be cheerful with a smile.
