Hi I'm Lauralee

I'm a mom, a wife, a teacher and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have three kids. We love to spend as much time together as possible. I am teaching third grade this year. I love to read, blog (and read blogs), decorate my house and clean... A clean house makes me so happy! I also love to create things when I have the time!

Why I am a Mormon

I feel blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. Having a testimony of our Savior, the atonement and His plan for us, helps me on a daily basis. My life is not easy, I don't know anyone that does have an easy life. Knowing that there is more to life than the here and now- helps me to get through rough patches. I know that if I live worthy, by keeping the commandments and doing what I know is right, I will get to be with my kids for forever. If one of my children were to die, I know that I will see them again. That is a huge comfort to me. I know that Heavenly Father hears my prayers, when I pray He hears me. The reason I know that is because he has answered my prayers over and over again. Not always the way I would like, but He does answer. I know Heavenly Father is aware of me. He knows my name. He knows your name. He loves us. When I was feeling quite a lone as a young adult, far away from any family or friends and dealing with a traumatic experience, I prayed for comfort, because that is what I had been taught to do when I was young. The prayer I said by the side of my bed, when I was feeling most desperate, was answered in a very real, solid way, immediately. I felt for a surety that Heavenly Father knew me, and loved me. I have never forgotten that experience and that has been shown to me time and time again. I am grateful for His love, and the constant help He has given to me throughout my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith, by praying, reading my scriptures, and trying to reach out to others. I try to live my life sharing the love I feel from our Heavenly Father with other people. I work with kids on a daily basis, and I know that while kids can sometimes be difficult, they are all children of a Heavenly Father who loves them, and they need to feel that love. Through me, and how I treat children I can help them feel that love Heavenly Father has for them. At church I work with the 12 and 13 year old girls. These girls are energetic and full of life, and I get to help teach them about Christ and how they can live their lives in a way that will bring them closer to Him.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Lauralee
Our Church has a huge emphasis on helping those not of our faith. The church has spent millions of dollars helping those with humanitarian aid. The missionaries we send out are going to reach out to those who are not Mormons. My parents just returned from a mission to Borneo, where they were helping those who needed clean water. These were not Mormon people and many times were not Christian. In the scriptures we are taught to help those who are hungry, alone or who need comfort. Show more Show less
