Hi I'm Kelly

I'm a husband, a father of 4 college students, a software and technology guy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married with four children (all in college!), a dog, and a box turtle (best pet ever). My wife and I enjoy being together. We like hiking, movies, trips to Disneyland, and kayaking. I am a software and technology guy, currently doing IT project management. Over the years I have visited many countries and developed a love of people and their cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with a long Mormon history, but I still had to find out for myself if it was really true. This was not a casual "I wonder if this is right," it was a driving "I have to know." What I like about the LDS church is that each person has to ask God for themselves and receive their own answer. We don't just accept what others believe. I hoped for a grand manifestation. Instead God communicated with me in a very quiet and personal way. I felt an unmistakable knowledge of three things: God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture from God. I wish I could describe the experience better, but I believe God knows each one of us and knows exactly the right way to communicate with us so we will understand that it comes from Him. When it comes from Him, you cannot deny it. I received my answer over 30 years ago and never looked back.

How I live my faith

My neighborhood has a strong sense of community. We all help each other. I like that the Mormon faith emphasizes serving and caring about others. Really, to be more Christ-like in every way. Currently I serve as a leader of my local congregation and also help young people learn to be more like our Savior. They have a great capacity for good. I was honored to be a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and have been involved in scouting for over fifteen years. Every day I try improve, to be a little bit more like Jesus, and to make a difference for good.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Today at a wedding I heard someone say that marriage was not a 50/50 proposition, it requires 100% from each. While I understand what they were trying to say, I have to disagree. I believe marriage is 50/50...equal. Both husband and wife are equal partners in the proposition of marriage. Both have an equal committment to make the marriage successful. While each bring distinct talents and abilities into the marriage, they must allow each others abilities to strengthen the union. So in the end it is about taking the best of each and making the sum greater than two. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

From my first read of the New Testament I was hooked. I love the 4 gospels the most because they are all about Christ's life. Show more Show less
