Hi I'm Susan

I am a life-long learner. I am a wife and mother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to garden, sew, craft, cook and read. I'm learning how to garden in the Pacific Northwest, which is more of a challenge than I thought it would be. My father runs a wholesale greenhouse and I wish I had absorbed a little more plant knowlege while I was growing up. I love to sew because I like thinking about how all the pieces of a pattern fit together. Mistakes are easy to fix; I just clip the stitching and try again. Some of my favorite books are Huckleberry Finn, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and Great Expectations. I have three young children, two boys and a girl, and I am so happy to be a stay-at-home mom. Right now I'm learning a lot about communication, relationships, and emotional health. I am grateful to be able to teach what I learn to my kids. My next learning goal is to take a computer class. I would like to learn how to use basic computer programs plus some photo editing tools.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon so I developed a testimony of Christ and the scriptures gradually. As part of a class I took in college, I explored a couple of other religions but the one I was raised in always felt the most right to me. I have thought many times about why the Mormon church feels so good. I wanted to make sure I believed it and was not just comfortable in it. I respect the churches I visited for their sense of community and their teachings of Christ, but the Mormon church gives me an extra sense of peace with a joy that makes my heart leap. I love that the church teaches me to find my answers and learn for myself. I am a daughter of God and His divinity resides within me. I am entitled to receive answers to prayers because I am His daughter. He has given me a Prophet to help guide my way.

How I live my faith

Currently at church, I am the Music Coordinator. I pick the hymns and coordinate special musical numbers. I love participating in the women's groups and programs. Scripture study and prayer helps me feel like a more complete person. I teach my kids that they have a loving Father in Heaven who listens and answers prayers.
