Hi I'm Lynn

I'm a suburbanite wife and mom and a project manager for a software company. I love to read, hike and garden. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the suburbs of Seattle. I commuted into the city for years working for an Investment Management Company. But now, I'm working from home as a project manager. Trying a new career has been scary. Some days I love the challenge and others I feel overwhelmed. But I'm certainly not bored! I love my home and neighborhood. It's a tiny cul de sac with funky little houses and the best neighbors anywhere. My husband and I raised our son here. He's now grown and off to college. Being an empty nester is new to us as well. I'm an avid reader, some-time gardner and am re-discovering hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I'm training to hike Half Dome at Yosemite National Park next year, which will be a real challenge physically as well as an opportunity to conquer my fear of heights! I'm trying to embrace the changes that this phase of life is bringing to me and enjoy the ride.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into my religion. But my faith has become my own. My parents, who had been agnostic most of their lives, joined the Mormon Church in their late 30's. I was born a few years later. Our religion was at the center of our lives. I went to church every week and was very involved in our youth group. While I was always very involved, I definitely questioned. I wondered if I was a Mormon only because my parents were. I felt the need to find out for myself. Through prayer and studying the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, I came to know for myself. The more I study all of the works of scripture, I find that they testify of each other. All all testify of the mission and divinity of Jesus Christ. Studying the Old and New Testament strengthened my belief in the Book of Mormon. And studying the Book of Mormon has strengthened by faith in the Bible. As I've studied and prayed, I've come to know through the witness of the Spirit that there is one loving Heavenly Father who has had a plan for His children since the beginning. His Son, Jesus Christ, fulfilled that plan. And because of His perfect life and atoning sacrifice, we can live with Him again and we can live with our families forever. That's my greatest hope and desire.

How I live my faith

I love children and youth. One of my favorite acitivities is to volunteer in the classroom. It started while my son was in school, but I've kept it up. I've participated in "Invest in Youth", a program where Investment professionals spend one hour a week with the same child tutoring them and mentoring them. I've loved working with them. Since I'm no longer working in the city, I'm now volunteering in the local schools, with my son's favorite teacher... from 15 years ago! I also work with the young women at church. I love their goodness, their vitality and the joy the find in life. I love that they stand up for what they believe in a world that doesn't often appreciate their values. They strengthen me and remind me not to take myself too seriously.
