Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a beach lovin girl from Oregon. I love history and traveling. I've lived in Israel and Chile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated with my degree in early childhood special education. I love working with children and I am so thankful for the joy they bring into my life! My passion is working with children who are visually impaired. My mother lost her sight before I was born so it is something that I grew up with in the home. I want to be able to help others just like so many have helped my family. My favorite quote is, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." The Little Prince. I love history and traveling! I have learned so much from people of different faiths and cultures. I spent a semester studying abroad in Israel and 18 months serving the people of Santiago Chile. I hope to someday serve in other parts of the world, especially in Hungary where many of my ancestors are from.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is what has brought me the most joy in my life. I was born into a wonderful family of this faith, but there came a time in my life when I had to choose if it was what I truly believed. At the age of 12 I lost my mother to diabetes. She meant the world to me and at this young age I felt lost without her. At this time I had a choice, I could become bitter or I could turn to the Lord. In sincere prayer I asked my Father in Heaven if he loved me and knew that I was there. An overwhelming feeling of peace came over me and I knew that I was not alone. Life is a constant roller-coaster of changes and challenges, but through prayer I have continually found comfort, strength, and joy. I know that someone is really listening and cares about my happiness. Another great strength in my life has been the Book of Mormon. I have read it many times and constantly turn to it for answers. It has helped me understand God's love and plan for us. I believe that it is the word of God and was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith. I believe that God truly loves us and wants all of us to come home to Him. Each day I am reminded of how involved Heavenly Father is in my life. He continues to bless me in so many ways. As I follow His teachings I feel hopeful for the future. When everything seems to be falling apart around me I lean on my Savior and His gospel. He is my foundation, my constant rock.

How I live my faith

I believe that actions often speak louder than words. I try to live what I believe by setting a good example of sincere kindness, honesty, and charity. Each day I try my best to live God's commandments. I am not perfect by any means, but each day I grow a little bit stronger. Even though I make mistakes I find comfort in the fact that as I turn to my Savior I am given another chance. Trying to be like Him has brought me so much joy and excitement for what comes next in life!
