Hi I'm Sara

I'm a vegan Mormon.

About Me

I am a married mother of 5. I enjoy reading chic lit, vegan baking, and yoga.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my family, and I want to spend eternity with them. :) I know that by following Christ's example this will happen. I know that I am literally a daughter of God, and that Jesus died for me. I know that through the atonement of Christ my sins can be forgiven. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers, even if it's not when/how I want Him to.

How I live my faith

I love all of my callings! I am currently an Activity Day Leader to the 8-11-year old girls, Suday School teacher to 6-7-year olds, member of the Relief Society Enrichment Board, and a Visiting Teacher. Each of these callings allows me to serve my brothers and sisters in the ward in different capacities. In Activity Days, we teach the girls how to learn and live the gospel, serve others, develop talents, and prepare to be a young woman. In Sunday School, my husband and I serve together. We discuss with the kids topics like faith, repentance, Jesus Christ, the plan of salvation, commandments, loving one another, etc. The Relief Society Enrichment Board plans activities for the women in the ward, things like craft fairs, cooking, sewing, parenting, etc. My Visiting Teaching calling allows me to visit three different sisters in the ward and become their friend. I act as a support system as well as an example of a righteous woman. I visit with them each individually once per month, and I assess their needs (literally any kind of need, spiritual, physical, babysitter, diet coke getter, etc.).

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Sara
We dress up for church! We wear Sunday best including slacks/dress shirts/ties for men and boys and skirts/dresses for women and girls. For example, my husband wears khaki slacks, a white button up shirt, and a tie. I love to wear a long skirt with a flowy top. As American Mormons, we celebrate many holidays including New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Veteran's Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. We also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and missionary farewells and homecomings. We honor the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas and celebrate his resurrection on Easter.
