Hi I'm Leigh

I'm a southern belle that loves living in the west. I am a preschool teacher, antique lover, mother of four sons and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Mississippi and I love all things southern, especially fried foods and front porches. I love to refinish and re-purpose furniture that I find at garage sales. I love walking with friends, reading good books, decorating, napping, chocolate covered raisins with Pepsi and all things family. As a mother of four college sons, I look forward to grandchildren...someday! I love meeting with the ladies at church and serve as president of the local women's church group. We love serving our community and do our best to be the Lord's hands on earth. I lost my mother to cancer 5 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. I miss not being able to tell her of my new paint color and what the boys are accomplishing now. I feel comforted by the belief that I will see her again and be an eternal family.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the south as a Mormon was quite a difficult thing and I always wondered why I was not considered a Christian by my friends. He is the center of all I do and every decision I make. My relationship with my Savior is strengthened by being a member of the restored gospel. I love knowing He still speaks to a living prophet today and is guiding us. I know that I can pray to Him and receive answers. He knows me and will show me the things I need to do to be a better disciple. I love my role as a woman and know I have a vital place in this world. My husband treats me with such respect because of His understanding of the Savior's love for me. I am comforted by the fact that we are able to make earthly choices that can lead to our family being together forever. I strengthen my testimony by studying the scriptures and the words of the living prophet. I have come to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost in my life and try to act upon those promptings. I know that I have stewardship over my family and pray for them daily.

How I live my faith

I am the president of the women's group in my congregation. I have two counselors and secretary that help me to organize activities and welfare needs. Our activities each have a purpose that include: community service projects, learning more about Christ, self-reliance, physical health and bringing families closer to Christ. We organize sisters to do monthly personal visits into the home of each woman to share a spiritual message and check on their well-being. We meet each Sunday in a women's only meeting to teach each other the gospel. I help to organize and fulfill the welfare needs of each sister and make personal visits to minister to those in need.
