Hi I'm JoAnn

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, an island-girl. I was raised in the Catholic religion and went to an all girls catholic high school. My religion teacher asked us a question one day .... do you believe in what you are learning? Are there unanswered questions that you want answered? That peaked my interest. He challeneged us to look further into our beliefs and to be opened minded of other's beliefs. This started my investigation into other religions. Not too long after that my friend introduced me to the church. I felt something good within me start to stir. There I found the answers to those questions that I had. It lead me to my Savior, Jesus Christ and knowing that He is God's only begotten son and that He lives. It confirmed to me that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost and three separate beings. It reinforced my feelings that we lived with our Heavenly Father before and that we will see Him again. I also learned of the Plan of Salvation that brought me joy and confirmation to know that I will see my ancestors again some day. My conversion was the gentleness of the Spirit testifying to me that what I was learning was true. As my parents didn't agree with my conversion I wasn't baptized until the age of 21. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought me and my family such joy. I am sealed to my husband for all time and eternity and we are blessed with 3 wonderful children and 2 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me such joy to know that I belong to Christ's true and everlasting gospel. To know and feel that I am of infinite worth and a daughter of God. What I learned growing up in the Catholic religion helped me to prepare my foundation of charity and love of our Heavenly Father's children. As I learned more about being a Mormon it helped reinforced and developed a stronger foundation of truths based on a Savior that Lives and Loves each and every one of us. It is from the understanding that Heavenly Father sent us here to earth to learn and grow to be "our best" so that we can return again to Him someday. It is understanding that we can be better children of Heavenly Father when we follow our Savior, Jesus Christ who is the greatest example of charity and love. Having the gospel in my home has helped my husband and I to stay focused on what is of the most importance, and to teach our children about serving others. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has helped me to understand that we are all Heavenly Father's children and that He knows us and loves us all individually.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by daily remembering who I am, a daughter of God and serving others. Also, in remembering that we are all His children. In church I work in the young women's program (ages 12-18). This helps me to not only remember to be an example for my family but also to all the young women. My beliefs help me to reinforce the values of faith, individual worth, accountability, integrity and virtue. By serving each other and one another we can follow our Savior which helps us to stay focused on what's most important as daughter's and children of our Heavenly Father. It is through serving at church and in our community that we can share charity and love one to another.
