Hi I'm Kenny

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always considered myself to be a pretty average guy. I love being outside hunting, and playing sports, and hanging out with family and friends. I graduated with a BS in Microbiology, and I am hoping that Dental School is in my near future, but for now the only thing I can see in my future is the birth of my first child in December! The prospect of becoming a new dad is amazing, exciting, and a bit overwhelming, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. My wife and I have been married for a little over 2 years now, and it is amazing how fast the time has flown by. Life can be a bit chaotic at times, but having her by my side helps keep me grounded to what is really important and what isn't.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of one specific principle which is taught within the church. That principle is to find out for yourself, and gain a personal testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church on the earth today. I was born into the church. That is I was raised in the church while I was growing up, but that doesn't mean I always beleived what I was being taught. I discovered for my self that this is Christ's church when I was about 15 or 16. I had been taught my whole life that I could recieve a personal witness from the Holy Ghost to confirm the truthfulness of this Gospel, and I chose to act on that opportunity. I admit I started out my quest with all the attitude a teenager can muster, but as I humbled myself and truly desired to know the truth that witnesss was realized. As I studied the Book of Mormon and as I prayed and asked my Father in Heaven to know that the Book of Mormon was a true book of scripture I was blessed with a confirmation from the Spirit of the Lord. I didn't see any visions, or hear any voices, but the feelings within my heart and the peace that overwhelmed me was unlike anything I had ever experienced, and I knew that I was receiving an answer to the question I was asking. Why am I a Mormon? Because I know that Jesus Christ has established His church on the earth today, and that anybody who wants to know this can find out for themselves independently of what anybody else says. That is how I found out, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

After High School I was able to serve a 2 year mission for the Church in the Washington D.C. North Mission. It was an amazing experience to share the gospel full time. Since I have gotten married I have had the great opportunity to help out in church team teaching in the nursery, 18 months to 3 years, and in the 5-6 year old class with my wife. It was so much fun to teach the little kids, and it always amazed me to see some of the little things they would pick up on, and the questions that they ask. Some days it felt like I was there so that they could teach me.
