Hi I'm Rodney Bickley

I'm a Mormon. I haven't been a member all of my life. I'm a convert to the LDS church and it's one of the best decisions I made.

About Me

I teach 4th grade at a local elementary here in town. This is my 12th year as a teacher. I am also a volunteer firefighter here in town. My family and I love to do anything outside. Camping, hiking, water skiing, boating, and swimming are just a few of our interests. My wife and I are the proud parents of 6 kids, 3 girls and 3 boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it was what I felt was right. My wife and I married before I became a member. She had been a member basically her whole life. We met online and slowly got to know each other through email and instant messaging. We decided to meet in person and share photos of our lives at a McDonald's (public location half way between the different cities where we lived. We continued to meet and eventually add the 4 older kids to the relationship. We dated for about a year before I proposed. I tell you all this because during all this time I not only learned about wife and the 4 kids but the Mormon church as well. I was never forced to listen to anyone tell me how to live my life or how I should become a member. Everyone I was around was a witness to me and I asked when I was ready to meet the missionaries and take the discussions. While receiving the lessons I was open to the Spirit and read what was asked, prayed, and even fasted. The Spirit confirmed to me during one of the lessons that the Book of Mormon is true and I gained a testimony that the church was true. I agreed to be baptised and the rest is history!

How I live my faith

I am by far not a perfect person. I have a long way to go but I do try to live my life according to the gospel. The Articles of Faith are a really good summary of what I believe and try to strive for in my life. I was amazed when I became a member of the church to learn of callings. All the callings are positions filled by people of the church and we aren't paid! Not with money anyway but with blessings received by serving our fellow men and women. My calling is Ward Clerk. I'm responsible for record keeping and recording for our members.
