Hi I'm Susie Peters

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 46 years old and I am a mom of 4 kids. I am a wife and have been married for 23 years. We were married civily and then when my oldest child was 15 months old we were sealed as a family in the Las Vegas temple. I enjoy hanging with my family just about any time I can. I like to sew and be somewhat crafty. After staying home with my kids for 18 years I finally went to work outside of my home. At first I thought I was doing it because all of my kids were in school full time and I was bored. Not too long after I started working my husband lost his job because of the economy and now I work because I have to. I have a son and a daughter in college and my son is getting ready to go on a mission, my 20 year old girl is in the honors progam. I have a son in high school who loves to play volleyball for his school, and one in jr. high who loves to swim.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and so I have been a member all of my life. My mom died when I was 14 of cancer and as a teenager my life got a little crazy and I lost my way for awhile. Not too bad but bad enough that I didn't appreciate that fact that being a member was an awesome thing to be. Growing up we never said prayers except at dinner and I can probably count on one hand how many family home evenings we had, and there were never any bibles or books of mormons or even pictures of Christ or temples at my house. But we were active in the church (at least we went to church on Sundays). I quit going to church just to make my dad mad. What I didn't realize until later, was that I was hurting me more than him. When I was about 21 I realized that I needed the church and I think I always had a testimony but I wanted to go back to church and find it again. I moved to a different state and started going to a singles ward and found that it was the most reverent place I'd been probably my whole life. About 10 months later I met my husband and were married 6 months later. We weren't married in the temple but were eventually. We raise our children with the church as the center and we all have strong testimonies and know that in order to always be a family we need work hard at serving the Lord, going to church, reading our scriptures and spending time as a family. Life is so hard and I know that we are only going to make it through all of our trials with our Savior helping us through. I love my family so much and i'm so excited to send my son on his mission in a few months. It makes me so happy that he is so excited to go and serve the Lord. As well as my other children who are just as happy to serve. I love my family and my church and am very thankful for our living Prophet that lives today to help guide my family and me.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my ward and I serve with the women in our ward. I also am a visiting teacher and I call and make sure the other women have done their visiting teaching. I do love to serve because I always feel happy when I do and know that i'm doing it for my Heavenly Father. But i'm pretty sure the best calling that I have ever had or will ever have is being a mom to my 4 amazing kids.
