Hi I'm Heidi

I grew up in Utah. I'm a runner, a yogi and an avid reader. I come from a rich Mormon heritage. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a runner, a yogi and an avid reader. I love to find new ways to exercise and take care of my health. I have a degree in Anthropology and look forward to continuing my education in this field at some point. I love to travel. My husband and I are constantly planning our "next big adventure". My greatest love is my family, which I am so grateful to be a part of.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I come from a strong Mormon background, much of my teenage and adult years were spent away from the church. I didn't think I needed it in my life. I didn't feel that my life fit within the church's teachings. I simply didn't think the church was for me. When I met my husband, an active Mormon, I decided to give it another chance. I remember the first time we walked into a chapel together as husband and wife. Admittedly, at the time, I was there more for my husband than for me. I still didn't believe the gospel could resonate with me. But from the moment the congregation began to sing the opening hymn, my attitude took a complete change. It was an emotion I had never experienced before. It was an overwhelming sense of love and belonging. I did not expect something as simple as a song to bring me to my knees. But that is exactly what happened and that is what brought me back to the church. I needed to feel my Heavenly Father's love and I needed to show my love to Him. I could not hold back the tears during that first hymn and to this day, I often find tears welling up over the beautiful simplicity of a hymn. Two years later, I see the change that has come into my life because of my decision to return to the church. I feel the love of my Heavenly Father and Savior all around me. It's quiet but strong. It brings peace and perspective to my life. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every day by showing love, kindness and compassion to those around me. I believe Christ gave us the ultimate example of how we should treat one another. I have also served with the youth in the church and am constantly amazed by their wisdom and eagerness to do what is right. This is an active gospel and I find there are many ways, big and small, to live my faith. Whether it be delivering a meal to a new mom or serving in a church calling. There is something for everyone to do.
