Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Yelm, Washington and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of four and happily married. I love anything with an engine, especially motorcycles. Just wish I had more time for them. I am busy with a good public service career and have a great impact on others. I like the feeling of making a positive difference in whatever I do. I find it very rewarding as I help my kids grow and learn. I like the outdoors and enjoying the mountains and sun. It's never better than when I'm on my dirt bike with my wife and kids along though. I also am somewhat of a geek as I love gaming, especially Dungeons and Dragons. Some habits from youth can never be totally gone. Above all, I like spending time with my family and being home.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 7 years old, some great friends introduced my family to the Mormon church, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From the first time I heard the story of Joseph Smith, I knew it was true. I am a very logical thinker and it makes sense to me that our Heavenly Father would have a prophet on this earth, especially at this troubled time. As I look at all the good that is done as unpaid members go out and live the gospel of Jesus Christ, serving others, I know that this is true. I have lived the gospel of Jesus Christ since I accepted it. It has brought me great joy and brought me closer to my Heavenly Father than I have ever imagined it could. As I read the scriptures, whether it is the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, or the words of living prophets today, I know that the only way to return to our Father is through Jesus Christ. I always had an issue when I would hear those fateful words "till death do us part." Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, as restored by Joseph Smith and taught today, I know death will not be the end. That brings me a measure of comfort that has no end.

How I live my faith

I live the gospel of Jesus Christ by serving others. I have spent many years working with boy scouts, teaching young men to be the type of people that care and help others. I currently am the men's group leader in our area and correlate the needs of the families that I can help. I believe that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17)" This is even why I chose the career path I did. In my career, I am in contact with many people in very difficult circumstances. Sometimes I can help these people and it makes me feel like I am making a difference and bringing others to Christ. If nothing else, I know I am bringing myself to Christ and can be a good leader and example for my wife and kids.
