Hi I'm Jenny

I am a mother of 5, wife, sister, daughter, teacher, friend. I am a lover of running, reading, eating and laughing. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my husband for 15 years. Guess what? We're still crazy about each other. :) I graduated from BYU with a teaching degree in 1997, but decided to start a family instead of a career. I have been lucky enough to be a stay at home Mom for the past 12 years. I have 5 of the cutest kids you've ever seen (ages 3 to 12). I love to run and just completed my 5th marathon (26.2 miles... ya, I'm crazy like that). I am in love with my family and in love with my life.

Why I am a Mormon

One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is found in 2 Nephi 25: 25-26, where Nephi says, "We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." As a mother, this is what it's all about for me. My strongest desire for my children is that they will know their Savior. Not just know about Him, but KNOW Him. I believe the best way I can teach them to know Him, is to know Him myself. My parents joined the church before I was born and I was blessed to be raised with the gospel in my life. I was also blessed with a testimony. I knew, growing up, that the Book of Mormon was true. I knew that Joseph Smith saw God. I just knew it. It wasn't until I was 28 that I first read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. I was always reading IN the Book of Mormon, and had probably read the whole book at some point, but never straight through. I remember perfectly the day I decided to read it cover to cover, and pray and ask if it was true. I read the entire book in a few months. At the end I prayed and asked if it were true (even though I already knew it was true). The spirit in my room was so strong, I was a little nervous I might see an angel! :) I know that Heavenly Father gave me this overwhelming knowledge of truth, so I could experience something that I would never forget. It has been 8 years since the first time I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. I have read it many times since. Every time I finish, I pray and ask Heavenly Father if it's true. And every time I ask, He tells me that it is true and my testimony is strengthened. I have learned that praying and asking, even when I know the answer, opens me up to receive personal revelation. It helps me to recognize the Lord's voice and experience how he speaks to me. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is a great treasure to me.

How I live my faith

I've always said that if you want to feel like a "rock star", hang out with kids. They love so freely, are slow to judge and quick to forgive. No wonder the scriptures speak so much about "becoming as little children". It's my lucky privilege to be in charge of singing time for the children at my church. I enjoy teaching them songs about the Savior and sharing my love for Him with them. I also teach a Christian based preschool out of my home. I find joy in teaching my own children to pray, read the scriptures and develop their own relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
