Hi I'm Karen

I am a wife and a mother of five teenagers.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother. I was able to stay home with our children after our second child was born and have loved being a "stay-at-home" mom. We have a 20 year old daughter and four teenage boys. I love all of the parts of being a homemaker - but my favorites are cooking and decorating. I have the BEST husband ever. He is such a good example to our boys and very involved in their activities. He works so hard and is the most selfless person I know. And best of all he loves ME!! With our kids getting older I feel the changing of phase in my life. I still love being a wife and mom and look forward to the life that is tumbeling out before us. I served a mission in Lubbock/Ft. Worth, Texas. I am grateful for that experience especially as we teach our children and help to prepare them to serve missions as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church - my parents were great examples of how to live the gospel. They were not afraid of sacrifice and always did whatever they had to to serve the Lord. It was their example and the love of teachers and leaders through my life that lead me to pray and receive a testimony of my own. I was lucky to find this early on in my life. I have always felt blessed to have a testimony of my own, something that I have been able to build my life upon and gives me roots in my knowledge of who I am. I know Jesus Christ lives, he is real and he suffered and died for all mankind and because of this we can return to him after this life. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that he was the instrument they used to restore the gospel to this earth. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are divine scripture and contain the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that he still sends prophets to continue to give us his message of love and guidance in our lives. Being a Mormon is a choice I make everyday. It makes me happy, it gives me clarity and peace that I can't imagine living in this world without.

How I live my faith

The way I raise my family and treat others is centered around my faith. I make mistakes - OFTEN! But I try to do better, to be better. It is the basis of who I am and blesses my life in every direction I turn. I go to church every Sunday because it helps me feel close to my Savior. It fills my heart with strength to make it through another week and hopefully improve on what I did in the last week. It often gives me the opportunity to teach or serve in some small way which a makes me feel good. As part of the women's organization it is my job to help plan activities and meetings for the women that attend our church. These range from topics of a spiritual nature to very practical matters. Our most recent activity was centered around house cleaning of all things! We learned new ways to get our kids involved in cleaning as well as lots of great cleaning tips like steaming a bowl of water in the microwave to loosen up the dried on food to make it easy to wipe out. We also had a speaker that talked about the importance of keeping our hearts clean. No matter what the topic or activity - it is always a good time spent with women who love and care for each other. Our church as a whole is known for reaching out to help others whether they are members or not. It is a great support system to the whole world. Serving others brings true happiness. I know I am at my best when I am doing for someone else.
