Hi I'm Carlie Eaves

I am twenty years old and served as a missionary in Cochabamba, Bolivia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

About Me

I recently returned from serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was called to serve in Cochabamba, Bolivia mission and spent one and a half years there sharing the gospel that I love in the Spanish language. While serving as a missionary I learned to serve others, share my knowledge that God lives and help others to find out for themselves if what I was teaching them was true. I loved serving the people of Bolivia but I was equally happy to come home and spend time with my loving family. I love to spend time with my siblings and grow closer to them. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS (Mormon) church. Ever since I can remember I have had a great life, though not without its trials. When I was five my testimony began to grow as I sang the words, " I am a child of God," in church. I know that Heavenly Father loves us all and am trying my hardest to one day return to him. I know this church is true and am so grateful for all the blessings it brings. My testimony has strengthened throughout the years as I ponder the Book of Mormon and reflect on the spiritual promptings it gives me. I do not remember my baptism day very well ( I was 8 years old and didn't think to record it). I have so many great examples in my life and I love them all. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving everyday to be a better person. Even though I make mistakes I know I can always change and become better through the Atonement. I also live my faith by choosing the right even when it is hard. As Mormons, we have certain standards that we follow. I live my faith by following those standards, even when everybody around me is not. I also live my faith by treating people with kindness and respect, even if they have different beliefs than I have.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Carlie Eaves
I can genuinely say that, in my life, there has not been one time when I didn't have at least one thing to be grateful for. I attribute that to the church. The LDS (Mormon) religion has blessed my life because it is always something I can rely on. When I'm having a perticularly ungrateful day, if I say a prayer to my loving Heavenly Father, something usually comes along to brighten my world. Being a member of this church also blesses me with patience and love for my family. I know a lot of people out there are searching for happiness. I see it all around me. The church has given me the tools and power to be happy every single day, no matter how hard life becomes. Many people join the church because it brings endless happiness. Also, we are like a giant support system. Whenever anyone is having a bad day we attempt to lift them up and make them feel great. One other reason the LDS church has grown so much is that we are a big, close family. Each of us know who we are and want to share that feeling of self confidence with others. Many people want that and that is why they join our church. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Carlie Eaves
For me, the best blessing I have received from studying the scriptures is the blessing of peace. In high schools I have a lot of homework and other activities. Sometimes these things pile up and I feel extremely stressed. This is one of my favorite times to turn to the scriptures. As I read, I can feel peace and know that even though I am just as busy as I was before I read I can feel calm and peaceful. I also realize that though I am stressed, I always have the Savior to help me. I also enjoy the daily peace that comes as I read. I am thankful for that constant reminder of my Heavenly Father's love. That is what the scriptures do for me. Show more Show less
