Hi I'm Nanette

I have three kidneys-- two of my own and one of my husband's

About Me

I’m a wife to a wonderful, loving husband, and a mother of one adorable daughter. I have the best job in the world as a stay-at-home mom! I spend time at her school helping in the library, the classroom, and many school events. I participate in a book club and enjoy hosting and thinking of creative ways to lead the discussions. I also like to browse the library for cook books. I love trying the new and interesting recipes. My favorite thing to do is explore the many mountain trails and parks near our home with my family. We love to play games, laugh, and do projects together. I am so thankful for them. It is truly a miracle that we are together. One month after our daughter was born, my kidneys failed. Two months later I started hemodialysis three times a week for three hours.

Why I am a Mormon

The church is in every part of my life. My days begin and end with prayer to my Father in Heaven. Whenever I feel the need for comfort, guidance, or answers, I will pray. I read the Book of Mormon and Bible every day to review the concepts I know and gain further insights to others. I gain further insight into the scriptures by attending a class with other women in my congregation. We discuss the scriptures and strengthen each other's testimonies of the gospel. This class isn't the only place I feel loved and supported in my religion. We as women have monthly activities that are both fun and uplifting. I have made so many friends through these various events. Whenever we have moved to a new city or state, I haven't worried about finding people who will love and care for me and my family. We can easily find which congregation we are assigned to and they immediately reach out to us. They become our family. I love that this is a world-wide church. I know that the lessons I learn in my city and country are the same all over the world. When my family and I traveled to Germany, we sang the same songs, used the same set of scriptures and learned out of the same manuals. I know that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and I feel that connection wherever I go. I am most grateful for the connection I have with my family. I know that because of promises we have made in God's holy temple, we will be together as a family after we die. I can't imagine what it would be like without them. I am grateful for the church and the knowledge it gives me about why I am here on earth, where I was before I was born, and where I will go when I die.

How I live my faith

My parents taught me the importance of regular church attendance. Each Sunday I learn more about Christ, His teachings, and their part in my life. We all take turns teaching each other. I like that we are all equals teaching and learning together. I’ve learned that I need to study and pray every day about the concepts I am taught. As I do, I feel in my heart and mind that what I am learning is true. I feel peace when I apply these teachings in my life. Currently in my congregation, I help oversee the children ages 18 months to12 years old. I teach them as a group once or twice a month. It can be challenging when they are wiggling and talking, but I know they are willing and eager to learn. As I teach and interact with them, I am amazed at how much they already understand about Jesus Christ, the scriptures, prophets, and history of the church. I can feel how important they are to our Father in Heaven. They love their families and want to do what they have been taught. I know that someday they will be great spiritual leaders. I am grateful to the many teachers who help our own daughter understand the scriptures and teachings of the gospel. Each day as a family we read the scriptures and pray so we will be blessed and guided by our Father in Heaven. We want our daughter to be prepared to defend what she knows is right. She is already a light and example to her friends. I hope they feel the special spirit that surrounds her because of her close relationship with God.
