Hi I'm Stephanie

I love playing sports, trying new things, I'm a missionary in the Texas Houston South Mission and a Mormon!

About Me

I love playing soccer, and watching all different kinds of sports. I am a HUGE Utah Jazz fan. I love everything to do with the outdoors: hiking, swimming, wake boarding, and skiing. I am the oldest of 6 kids and love having a big family. We all get along so well and are such good friends. I was recently in the middle of getting a bachelors degree but decided to go on a mission for my church. I am currently serving in the Texas Houston South Mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a personal testimony of the truth of this church. There is no way I could be so invested in a church if I didn't personally know of its truth. I love the peace and understanding it brings to my life. Even though there are 'strict' commandments we adhere to, I have learned to love living by them because they bring me more happiness than anything else could. I am a Mormon because we believe that there is a Heavenly Father, and Savior Jesus Christ, who not only love us, but who know mine and your name, and who are constantly watching over us. I know that all they want to do is to bless us if we but "Come unto them". I am a Mormon because I believe there is still personal revelation that the Lord continues to give us today. And I am so grateful for the blessings that this has given me in my life.

How I live my faith

My faith determines every decision I make. It has made me who I am and will continue to shape me. I live my faith by giving service. I love making other people happy. I believe that there is no excuse for tearing people down. I belive that everyone is a son or daughter of our Heavenly Father. And that our Heavenly Father loves us! That is how I live and I see everyone around me. Of course I am not perfect but I try my best, and I know my best is ok, as long as I keep striving to become better.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Stephanie
We believe the Atonement to be the single most important even in the history of the world. We believe the Atonement to be Christ's suffering both in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. Because He lead a perfect life, He was able to take upon Him the sins of the world. We believe that He not only atoned for our sins, but also voluntarily took upon Himself the pains and sorrows of the world so He could "succor His people" (D&C 62:1). Later, when He hung upon the cross, Jesus again felt the weight of our sins even as He willingly suffered his death by hanging on the cross. Because He suffered for our sins (and we believe He suffered for ALL mankind even those who will never repent and return unto Him) we do not have to suffer for them. Yes, there are consequences to our actions but we believe in a loving Savior who is forgiving, and wants us to come back and live with him again. He said: "For behold, I...have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer....even as I. (D&C 19: 16-17). It was necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life because we, as mortals, make mistakes. God knew when He sent us to the earth that this would be the case. And in order for us to come back and live with Him again, He sent Jesus Christ to come to the earth. Because Jesus lived a perfect life, He was able to atone (reconcile) our sins so we are able to repent of those, and become clean again so we can live with them in Heaven again. Show more Show less
