Hi I'm Kara

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a married mother of three boys, and work in risk management at a large bank. I like to swim, cook, and do textile arts, especially amigurumi. I like to watch Dr. Who with my youngest and read science fiction. I raise hens in my backyard and look forward to being the crazy old cat lady in my neighborhood when I grow old.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to be a Mormon because I was born into the church, but as I grew up, it came to mean so much more to me. After some struggles and poor choices in my early-adulthood, I eventually came to the point where I had to ask myself if I really believed in Christ's Atonement and the promise given in Isaiah 1:18. Did I really believe that through Christ's Atonement my sins could be made as white and clean as snow? Through a process of scripture study and prayer and long talks with a loving bishop, my faith grew and I was able to accept that this wonderful gift was available to me if I was willing to accept it and live the principles I'd learned as a child. I also learned that a very important part of the process was learning to forgive myself.

How I live my faith

I've been involved in the presidency of our children's organization for about five years now and I LOVE this calling. Seeing our kids grow, watching their testimonies develop and their understanding advance is the greatest joy of my Sundays. I love to hear them sing as they learn the principals of the gospel through music. Their simple faith gives inspires me and gives me hope.
