Hi I'm Dalton

I'm a runner. I'm a small town boy. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town and I love it! Its always been something that I've loved and really feel so grateful for. It was great to grow up in a place where there was such a sense of community and you felt safe in. It really gave me the opportunity in high school to do the things that I wanted to do because the school was so small that you didn't ever have to worry about being good enough to make it on the team. If you wanted to do something then you could just go do it and there wouldn't be anything stopping you. Because of this I ended up participating in everything from football to drama to music to student government. I've had lots of opportunities to go and do and to become a well rounded person. Probably one of the things that I really love doing the most though is running. I like the excercise, the thinking time, and the fact that I'm the only one that is accountable for how well I do. I can't blame it on a teammate or something but its me who is the one who makes it happen. Its something that helps me to improve and to strengthen. Its always so satisfying to me to push myself and to try a little harder to be a little better. And just like life, it isn't necessarily the easiest thing or the thing that feels good at the time, but when you're done you can feel proud and confident in yourself knowing that you did your best to work hard and improve your time.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love being a Mormon :) Its pretty much the greatest thing in the world and because of it I've found so much strength, joy, and foundation in my life. I know that because of this decision that I've made in my life to follow Jesus Christ that I can have those things for myself. My parents raised me going to church, praying, and reading the scriptures but I didn't necessarily always know that it was all really true. I believed that it was true. I hoped that it was true. And because of that I searched it out to find out for myself if it was. For me it wasn't an angels and visions experience that helped me to know why I'm a Mormon, but the small and simple things that built my testimony. They seemed small at the time, but when I look back on all of them they have together grown into a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I love my Savior. I know that its only through him that we really will find the true happiness that the gospel brings. If it wasn't for him I would be in a very dark place and would not be going in a good direction. My Savior really is the center of why I'm a member of His church. I know that I can come unto Him by reading the scriptures, praying to God in His name, and by doing my best to "come follow Him". I can follow Him by living the full gospel of Jesus Christ which is on the earth today because God has restored it through a living prophet just like he has in the past. This prophet was Joseph Smith and I know that he was called of God to do what he did. And just like I said, I'm able to know these things not because angels have appeared to me and told me, but through the small and simple things like daily prayer and scripture study (particularly the Book of Mormon). These small and simple things are what have invited the Holy Ghost into my life and its from him that I'm able to know that this is true in my heart and my mind. I'm a Mormon because its true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the small and simple things everyday of my life that will help me to come closer and help me to be more like my Savior Jesus Christ. Some of those small and simple things include praying every morning and evening, reading from the scriptures daily and then applying them, and keeping the commandments. These things seem to be very small sometimes, but they really do make all of the difference in helping us to be more Christllike and more like the Savior. One of the apostles that lives today, Elder Richard G. Scott, has said, "We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." This quote really encompasses how I strive to live my faith each and every day. The Gospel isn't just about what we "do". More importantly its about who we "become".

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Because we love the message and want everyone to hear it :) Its like when you get a super awesome gift for Christmas and its just so amazing and cool that you want to tell everyone else about it. We proselyte because we know that the message is true and how much that applying it can change anyone's life who is willing to try it out and search it out for themselves. I personally have found more satifaction and fulfillment in my life from doing the things that we do as missionaries than any other thing that I've done before. The reward of seeing others receive that super awesome gift as well is well worth the effort. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes :) We definitely are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ, love Jesus Christ, and strive to emulate Jesus Christ in all that we do. The real name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". The church that we belong to is His church. We definitely are Christians because we definitely worship and follow Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
