Hi I'm Melissa

I am a wife and mother of six. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am amazed at how quickly our family has transitioned from the baby stage to the teenager stage. As a young mom, many people warned me that things would change in an instant, and they were right! It does seem like I blinked and all of a sudden I am in a new season of my life. Our oldest is a senior in high school and our baby is out of diapers and in preschool. I know it won't be long before college, missions, and marriage will start to empty our nest. And while I will miss having everyone under one roof, all indications are that life will just keep getting more full, and I look forward to it. For now, most of what I do revolves around the needs of my family. And that is okay - especially now that our kids are old enough that I don't need a babysitter to go on a Friday night date with my husband!

Why I am a Mormon

From a young age, I understood that my Heavenly Father loves me and that I can turn to Him in prayer. I was born and raised in the church and some of my earliest memories include praying as a family over meals, after family scripture study, and saying my personal prayers by my bed at night. Throughout my youth, it seemed like every time I went to my parents for advice, included in their counsel was the suggestion that I make the concern or struggle a matter of prayer. In turning to my Heavenly Father, I came to know that, whether by a feeling of peace, an idea, or the hand of another, the Lord knows me and will help me. This is just one of many reasons that I have chosen to continue personally and to raise my children in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through prayer I have been blessed with peace, strength and direction. This blessing has become even more significant as I raise my family. I know that the Lord loves my children and that He knows them even better then I do.

How I live my faith

I am tying to live my life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. He provides the perfect example for me - for all of us. For the last five years I have had the opportunity to work with the youth of our congregation, specifically the 14 and 15 year old girls. They are so good and so talented. They are learning that they are strongest when their lives are in alignment with the will of the Lord. The same is true for me. I consider my time with them a great blessing.
