Hi I'm Nick

I grew up in beautiful Oregon. I am now a software engineer at a small company in Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from college with a Master's in Electrical Engineering and an emphasis in computer vision. I now right software for a small company in Arizona. I have been married for almost 5 years and have two kids, a 3 year old girl and a 4 month old boy. Besides my family and my job I like to do almost anything related to sports. I love watching football, basketball, baseball and even golf and soccer. I will play just about any sport I can get a group of guys to play. As a new home owner I am starting to find joy in doing things around the house. This includes basic woodworking projects and landscaping.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have gained a testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ through the Book of Mormon. I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Book of Mormon as a child and learned the stories in the Book of Mormon and the Bible growing up. In my teenage years I made an effort to deeply study, understand and learn from the Book of Mormon. Through this process and continued prayer I had what I call a "sudden realization" that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. As time passed I came to realize that this "sudden realization" was the Holy Ghost testifying to me that the Book of Mormon is true. As I continued to study the Book of Mormon, the Bible and teachings from Prophets in our day I continued to gain knowledge of my Father in Heaven's plan for me, here a little and there a little. I know that we all have a Father in Heaven and that he is genuinely interested in each one of us. I know that he hears and understands us and is there for us. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and took upon him the sins of the world. I know that because of this each of us can be cleansed of our sins and be made perfect and worthy to return to live with our Father in Heaven if we gain and exercise faith in the Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Knowledge of God's plan for us and what he wants for each one of us patterns how I live every day of my life. I try to understand what Christ would do and I try to do that myself. I believe that Christ showed us the perfect example of how to live and the closer we can live to that the happier we will be. Of course none of us can live perfectly, like Christ did, but when we do we will be happy. In addition to the day to day choices that are affected by my Faith, I also attend church services every week. With my congregation I have been asked to organize sports activities for members of the congregation and friends to participate in. Currently, we play basketball and softball games against other nearby congregations once a week for a few months out of the year. Hopefully soon we will play basketball or softball or maybe even volleyball or flag football as a group weekly the whole year round.
