Hi I'm kyle

I love Jesus, my family, and fly fishing. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am an avid fly fisherman. I love spending time with my dad and brother on the great rivers of the pacific northwest. I am a college student. My life is filled with joy, and I am happy!

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was Baptized on January 1, 2000. I was eight years old at the time. As i was growing up, my father was not a member of the church. Luckily, he was supportive of my decision, though he wanted me to be totally sure that i was willing to commit to "being a Mormon". I prayed a lot, and studied a lot. God answered my prayers. Sometimes, we over-analyze and over-complicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ; but the truth is, IT IS SIMPLE! So simple that an 8 year old child can understand it. Furthermore, He has confirmed to me, time and time again, that this church is true. I promise, it is!

How I live my faith

I have recently returned from a 2 year full time mission in Arizona. Being a missionary was a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work! I had the privilege of teaching many different people and helping them get closer to Jesus Christ. That aside, I feel that i have an obligation and privilege to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ by constantly striving to follow Him. I make diligent efforts to study the Word of God every day. I enjoy serving my fellow men. I think smiling at someone is a great form of service. Even though i love flyfishing, i have felt prompted that Heavenly Father wants me to keep the Sabbath day holy by abstaining from fishing on Sunday. That was a really hard commitment for me to make, but I did it. It is a joy to me to freely give 10% of my income to the church. Sometimes it is a sacrifice to keep God's commandments and live as a disciple of Jesus Christ, but i have seen that God always blesses us bountifully for our attempts to be righteous. I am privileged to hold the Priesthood (which is the authority of God to act in all things for the salvation of mankind). As a Priesthood holder, i have many responsibilities and blessings. I am able to give blessings to those who are sick or afflicted. I have Baptized people. I am responsible to help the Bishop of the congregation watch over the needs of the people. serving God brings great joy into my life!

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

kyle
there is a lot of misunderstanding about the doctrine of grace, what is required for salvation, etc. among the sects of christianity. we do believe that only way to be saved is through the grace of Jesus Christ. However, this does not mean that we do not need to perform works. as He taught us in the new testament, if we love Jesus Christ, we must keep his commandments. by living the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are able to access His divine grace and the power of His atonement allows us to return to the presence of God.
