Hi I'm Janel

I love scouting. I produce youth musicals. I am a native of Arizona. I have 8 children. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of 5 siblings. I married my sweet husband 29 years ago, and we currently have 8 wonderful children, 2 grandsons, and 3 more grandsons on the way! I am just an ordinary mom, trying my best to keep up with the wonderful family that I've been blessed with! I graduated from Arizona State University in 1985. On the side, I manage an office building and do the accounting and payroll for several businesses. My real focus is with my family! I have a passion for homeschooling and real education and learning. I love to make bread! I enjoy various projects and activities, like quilting, sewing, baking, puppeteering, dancing, outdoors and hiking, and even trying new things (one of my latest is trying to learn to like running). I would describe myself as willing to try almost anything fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family of faith. Down deep, I have always known that God loves each one of us (we are His children)! I have had the great blessing of always feeling His love for me (even through my occasional doubts). This is not to say that I have not had difficult times or sorrows -- but I have known deep inside that when we are the lowest, He carries us through. I am grateful for the knowledge that when we choose to follow God, we have His peace and this brings us happiness. Through the blessing of the atonement of Jesus Christ, I have been healed many times. I know that Jesus Christ gave His life for each one of us so that we may be healed and comforted, so that we can repent and return to our Heavenly Father, so that we can live with our families eternally, and so that we can know God. I am so grateful for the assurance I have that God loves and cares for each one of us. Living the Gospel of Christ brings me joy and happiness! I am grateful for living prophets who guide and direct us through inspiration! I am grateful for personal revelation that has witnessed to me many times that I am on His path for me! I am grateful to have the covenants and blessings of the Temple in my life! I know that my family is forever -- and I am so grateful that our loving Heavenly Father prepared a way for our families to continue through eternity together! To me, heaven would not be heaven without my family!

How I live my faith

I love working with youth and children! They have such energy and so much potential! I have had the opportunity to serve in Boy Scouts of America for more than a decade -- and I love the people I have learned from there and the values of that great organization! I also have been involved with our local community theater for the past 10 years and have enjoyed producing the youth musicals and working with the talented youth in our community! I really enjoy working with volunteers throughout our community -- they really WANT to be there and to participate and help. There are so many great people who want to make a difference -- and they do! Therefore, they do amazing things voluntarily! It gives me great hope in todays world to work with people both in scouting and in the community who are great people doing great things because they want to make the world a better place! I have had many opportunities to work with and serve others over the years in our local church congregation, and I am looking forward to many more opportunities in the future! In the past, I have had the blessing of teaching and working with children and youth of all ages! I have had the opportunity to serve in several leadership positions also, and have learned much from the sweet women I have associated with. Currently, I have been given the responsibility to prayerfully select the music for our local worship services and conduct our congregation in singing hymns of praise. I feel the Spirit as I look out into the eyes of my fellow saints as together we sing praises to our God! It lifts my heart from worldly cares and trials. I also have the privilege of visiting several sisters in our local community every month and helping them with their needs. I really enjoy this time to share together. We have had several of our children serve missions to places like Georgia, Brazil and the West Indies, so far! My husband and I are preparing to serve as well when all of our children are gone.
