Hi I'm Judy

My husband and I joined the church in 1973 when we were young parents of a son and daughter. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

My parents took me to church when I was young. Then when I got married I joined my husband's church. I graduated from college with a teaching degree and taught for a few years until I felt I needed to stay home with my two children. We had 15 foster children and 8 foreign exchange students over the years. Now I have 9 grandchildren. I enjoy working outside in the yard and going to the "Y" to exercise with other seniors. I teach the 7-8 year old class at church. I love those children and pretend they are my other grandchildren. I went back to school when I was 40 to be a medical assistant and worked at the health center at the university here in town. I love working with university students. People know I'm a Mormon and respect me and what I believe.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband was struggling with his activity in our previous church when we were in our thirties. The church missionaries stopped by our home one day and I set up an appointment with them to discuss their church. My husband was impressed with their testimonies of Jesus Christ as was I. We were impressed with the emphasis on and activities for the youth. We read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its truthfulness. We investigated every aspect of the church and prayed about each. Our testimonies grew and we felt the spirit many times confirming what we were being taught and what we read. A member gave her testimony of Jesus Christ and the church to me in the parking lot of school one day. No one had ever told me, face to face, that they believed in Christ and His teachings and His church. That was one of the most wonderful things that happened to me and helped me gain my belief in Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. We have been members for 38 years now.

How I live my faith

I am so happy to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. We have served in many capacities or calling over the years. My husband has been a bishop twice. Our children both went on missions, one to Brazil and one to Argentina. My husband and I went on a mission to Indiana and worked with the college age students at a university. We taught religion classes, served as counselors and mentors and helped coordinate Christ centered activities. I have served in most of the areas of the church working with the other women, teaching youth and children, leading Boy Scouts, etc. Our children are wonderful. They are leaders in their communities and the church. Our grandchildren have begun to fulfill their callings as missionaries and leaders at college. They have set great moral examples for their friends in elementary and high school. I am so glad we invited the missionaries into our home.
