Hi I'm Shirell

I am a full time mom of 6 children. I teach piano and voice lessons and am involved in our community theater, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my best friend and I love my family of 6 children. I sew and love anything to do with music and theater. I'm usually the music director for at least 1 of the shows our community theater produces every year. I enjoy living in the rural country areas, and planting things. I try to garden...but not very successfully : ) I'm not a shopper, other than groceries, unless my husband or daughter makes me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of mostly members of the the LDS Mormon church. But, I grew up on the East Coast where there were not many members close by. I was the only member in my high school. So, I learned about many different religions growing up. I even was the organist for a Methodist Church in the mornings because my church time was in the afternoons. It was great to hear others views of our purpose here on earth. I learned to appreciate the things that were taught to me through the LDS Mormon church. I knew that I was a child of my Heavenly Father who loves me. I knew that I could ask for help from Him whenever I needed it. I knew I would have my family with me always even after this life was over. I especially find this important to me because my youngest child died a few years ago. It is the greatest comfort and hope I can find to know that my family is sealed to me forever and I will see my son again. I need my Heavenly Father's help daily.

How I live my faith

I spend my time helping in my children's school classes because I think we should serve where we live. In the past, I have helped the children 3-11 learn songs to sing to uplift and remind them of the teachings of our Savior. Currently I help organize week day classes to teach the women a variety of skills that are useful, or organize ways that as a women's group we can serve our families and communities. The last one was a night to learn about women's health from a doctor we invited to speak. The next activity will be a service project for Newborns in Need. I play the piano and organ, so I help organize choir for church and play for anyone the needs it for church services. For me, uplifting and good music is one of the best ways to feel the spirit and bring peace to my day.
