Hi I'm Mark

I'm a conservationist. I love the blessings of the earth. I follow the teachings of scripture. I love my family. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My 3 kids are amazing and my wife is my best friend! I enjoy family adventures and am enthusiastic about being outside as much as possible. My favorite personal activities are gardening, backpacking and hiking. I'm also involved with Scouting because it helps young men learn their duty to God, community, and themselves.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member all my life. As a child I followed my parents example as members of this church until I was about 14, then I read the Book of Mormon. I started out with just a few verses per night. But there was something about the book that made me want more. I increased my reading to one chapter, then 2, then 3 per night. I began to love the Book of Mormon. I felt that the words on the pages were meant for me and my life. I felt a positive force against the ways of the world. I felt that the book contained words of truth and were God's words. Because I knew the Book of Mormon was a book from God I knew that He anointed Joseph Smith as a prophet and directed him to restore His church to the earth and name it the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was a miracle in my life! The Book of Mormon together with the Bible reinforce my day-to-day impressions. I believe that Christ's church should be organized today just as it was in His day. Prophets and Apostles guide this church. Prophets receive revelations to guide us in these latter days. I believe miracles continue to happen. I believe that God's priesthood has been restored to the earth and that it is used to benefit all of us. Faith is a great force for good in my life. Because of the restored priesthood, because of prophets, because of the Book of Mormon and the Bible, because I can go to this church every week to be edified and strengthened, I feel my faith continuously growing.

How I live my faith

I choose to have faith in Jesus because I want help with life. I want to be a great husband and father. I want to be successful at work. I want peace and joy to rule my heart. I've already learned that I can't do any of these things with my own power to my satisfaction. Through faith in Jesus Christ I have found a power and influence that satisfies me in every way. I not only get help with being a better husband, father, and worker, but I feel a profound sense of belonging, peace and joy. I now know I have a purpose in life. I can't really define that purpose but I feel it like a toddler who has absolute trust in following his father and mother. Through faith and sincere repentance I have come to know my Savior lives. I learned through the scriptures that if I make a covenant with God through baptism, and let that covenant rule the way I live, I will never feel alone. Not only that, but I can pray to someone who is all powerful that can guide me to do and be my best. Sometimes, instead of guidance or direction, I feel strength come in to me that enhances the skills and attributes I need to make the best happen. And all of this gives me joy and peace.
