Hi I'm Lizzy

I'm a Mormon. I am the mother of 4 and I own a wedding flower business.

About Me

I am the mother of 4 beautiful children. I own a wedding floral business. I love home schooling, scrap booking, paper crafts, knitting, tatting, sewing, baking, weaving, general crafting, re-purposing, DIYing, rock climbing, gardening, farming, dancing and photography. I attended college for my American Sign Language Interpreting degree and while I am not currently working as an interpreter I do love teaching my children ASL. My husband is just finishing his doctorate in Natural Medicine so we are a very natural/organic family. I had all 4 of my children at home attended by a midwife. I have chickens, rabbits, a dog and at one time even had a milk cow. I love being self reliant and have many hopes and aspirations for building a self sufficient future for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are both Mormon. As a child I loved going to church and learning about Jesus. I feel like I have always known that this church is true but there have been several times throughout my life that the Holy Ghost bore strong witness to me in affirmation of this belief. I know that we have a living prophet leading our church who receives direct revelation from our Heavenly Father. I know that the book of Mormon is true. I know that the Temple is the House of God and because I had the honor of being married in the Temple I know that my husband and I can be married for not only this life but for all of eternity. And because we have been sealed in the temple our children will also be bound to us forever. I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all the blessing of being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

In my ward I have been called (asked) to teach and mentor the 14-15 year old girls. This calling includes teaching gospel based lessons on Sundays, planning and assisting in weekly activities designed to teach these girls life skills, offer advise, as well as encouraging self confidence, and helping in their spiritual growth. I have also been given the opportunity to visit with several women in my ward on a monthly basis. The purpose of this is to allow me the opportunity to meet other women I might not have the been able to otherwise. It also means that I am someone they can call, talk to, rely on, and share needs with. These both give me the privilege of being able to develop love for the women and young women I am serving.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Lizzy
Churches can be attended by anyone. There are classes for children of all ages, adults, those just learning about the Mormon Church and those who are new members. Churches are where members meet every Sunday to renew and remember the covenants (promises) they made with the Lord when they were baptized, and to prepare for baptism or to enter the temple. It is also a place of learning, prayer, and fellowship with others who share the same beliefs. The temple is literally the House of God. It is a place where sacred ordinances, such as Eternal Marriage, are performed. Because of how holy the temples are only Mormons who obey all of God' commandments are allowed to enter it.
