Hi I'm Kelsie Anderson

I'm a mormon, a wife and an education major. I want to teach Kindergarten when I graduate!

About Me

I've lived in washington state my whole life and my family is the most important thing to me. Snowboarding is my greatest passion and I live for it during the winter. There is just something about the mountains that is breath taking to me. I also love camping and indoor rock climbing. My husband and I have been married for a little over a year and are both going to school. I'm studying to become a kindergarten teacher! I have also studied mathematics and science. I love science because I feel like the more I learn about our world the closer I feel to the creator.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member since I was baptized at 8 years old. I was raised in a mormon home with loving parents who taught me the truth. I know this church is true because of countless experiences and blessings I have received. I know that there is a Father in Heaven who loves us and is keenly aware of each of our individual needs. I know that Joseph Smith was visited by Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to its fullness.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by example even though no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. The gospel allows us to start over again and become better people in the process. In the church I work as a teacher. I teach the 7-8 year olds!

What is the Relief Society?

Kelsie Anderson
During our worship services one hour is set aside for women 18 years and older to go to what is called Relief Society. The purpose of Relief Society is to build faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes and help those in need. I love attending Relief society because the lessons that are taught help me to feel as though I can make it through the day to day struggles we all face. It's like a little boost to your faith once a week to help keep you going! Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Kelsie Anderson
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. When Jesus was on the Earth he gave this power to his twelve apostles and they used it to carry out his work. When he died, his power was still on the Earth because his apostles had been given it. After all of the apostles died there was a period of time when the power to act in God's name was not on the Earth. When Jospeh Smith restored the full gospel of Jesus Christ he was also given the priesthood so that this power could be on the Earth again. He bestowed this power to others and now every worthy male who is 12 years or older may hold the priesthood. The priesthood is used to bless people who are sick and perform ordinances in the church, such as baptism. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Kelsie Anderson
Mormons believe that our bodies are gifts from God and that we need to keep them healthy and strong. In order to do this God gave Joseph Smith a law of health which is often referred to as the Word of Wisdom. In this law God spoke against the use of cofee, tea, alcohol and illegal drugs. This law can be found in Doctrine and Covenants 89: 1-21. Aside from believing in the Word of Wisdom, partaking of these drinks or substances have been scientifically shown to be dtrimental to our health. Alcohol affects the liver and its ability to function along with our mental capability to control our own actions. As do other illegal drugs and substances. Tobacco affects our lungs capacity to do their job. It also causes lung cancer and discoloration of different parts of your body. Tea and cofee contain caffine which if abused can be a very addicting substance. They also can stain your teeth. There are many different reasons to avoid these things. Show more Show less
