Hi I'm Michael

I grew up on Florida's Space Coast. Relocated to the Seattle area. Love boardsports. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up playing in or near the warm waters in FL. I still love surfing and fishing with my kids. I married my Norwegian tutor in college and love the unique Scandanavian perspective she brings to most topics.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were active Methodists, but joined the church after talking with the Mormon missionaries. I've found much happiness and peace as I've followed in my parents' footsteps and have chosen to live by the simple principles the Mormon church teaches. I believe inner peace is among the greatest blessings I can receive of God during this life. I know that I have a loving Father in Heaven and that his son Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. That through Christ, I can repent of my sins and be clean. I believe that through the prophet Joseph Smith, Christ has re-established His church with prophets and 12 apostles, and has brought forth the Book of Mormon. As I study the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I learn about Christ and the purpose of life. I am very grateful for the strength and focus that this faith brings me on a daily basis.

How I live my faith

Though I do think it's important to read scriptures and pray, I think serving others is one of the keys to living my faith. I look for opportunities to help and serve others. Often, It seems like I can do more good through smaller acts like listening to others' problems or trying to cheer up the people around me. I feel fortunate my church membership provides me many opportunities to teach the youth simple gospel lessons. I especially love to show people that living according to the gospel of Jesus Christ brings me great happiness.
