Hi I'm Dana

I grew up in Akron, Ohio. Lived in Salt Lake City, traveled in Europe with the military. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired medical assistant, have 2 sons and 1 daughter, 4 grandsons, 3 granddaughters. I love to sew, quilt, and read. I attend a local Christian College. I am a long time tax professional, currently self-employed.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1970 I was at the visitors center in Salt Lake City. I had a feeling overtake me as I heard and learned the story of Joseph Smith. I knew that the words being spoken were true. Even though I did not join for many years (40 to be exact) I always tried to uphold the values of the church and their faith. I would talk to others I met about the church and I eventually I grew away from my other church. I knew I was missing something. When we moved to our recent home, two missionaries came to our door, I set a baptism date that day.

How I live my faith

I participate in organizations that serve others. Every year I work on a project where we provide food at Christmas to needy families. I have taught 4-5 year old children in primary. I have taught crafts to the young women in our church. I have done the newsletter for our women's group in our church. Most importantly, I am serving as a full time missionary, at home. I love providing support for the missionaries that are serving in our community. I hope I am setting a good example for my grandchildren and others who meet me.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

The tithing we pay as church members support the church activities. They include building and renovation of our chapels, temples and other buildings such as the Bishop Storehouse, employment center and counseling centers. The funds also support the Missionary program, but not the individual missionary expenses while on their mission. One expense of that program that tithing funds is the program that covers medical expenses of a missionary for the two years they are serving. Another expense it covers is the vehicles used by missionaries while they are in the field. Those funds make sure the vehicles and missionaries are safe. Tithing also funds temple work, family history centers, and materials that are used in Church classes and organizations. The Mormon church is totally self supporting because of the tithing that is paid by all members. Show more Show less
