Hi I'm Philip

I am a husband, father of four, and professor. Healthy active living is my lifestyle. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I lead a busy life, which is full of family, work and church activities. I find great joy in watching my children play sports, engage in church and school activities and play with friends in our neighborhood. I love the inland mountain northwest in northern Idaho were there are vast open spaces of forests and mountains. Recreational activities are numerous for biking, hiking, backpacking, driving, sleding and skiing for enjoying the beautiful creation of our Heavenly Father. I also love to garden in my yard in order to grow fresh vegatables and fruits. My current project is building a terraced garden in our backyard where I am logging timber from the forest for the terrace foundation. It has been a great experience learning how to fell, limb and buck trees with a chainsaw. With my efforts to lead a healthy active lifestyle, I commute to work on my bicycle year around. Oh, we have a huge family dog named YoYo, she is a yellow Lab that weighs in at 120 pounds of fun for the family.

Why I am a Mormon

First and foremost, I am Mormon because of the Holy Ghost testifying that there is a Heavenly Father and a Savior Jesus Christ. I was baptized at the age of 19 years, when I was searching for the truth in the world and had visited many churches over my later adolescent years. I prayed to know the truth and which church was the right one. The testifying of the truth by the Holy Ghost to me, so moved me that I knew without doubt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and that Heavenly Father's Plan was the way. One of my most powerful witnesses of the Holy Ghost during my early days in the church was of our Heavenly Father's Plan that families are eternal through the sealing power of the priesthood in our Lord's temples. My testimony has continued to grow since I was baptized, where I feel I have grown closer to my Father in Heaven and our Savor Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My most enjoyable service in church has been in the youth organizations (i.e., primary 18mo. to 11yrs, and young men's 12 to 18yrs) where I have taught Sunday school and worked in Boy Scouting. Attending church activities has been a wonderful way to be involved in the church. Church activities like, Christmas program, Halloween - Chilli/Harvest activity, Fourth of July flag raising - breakfast, Children's story/singing programs, temple trips, etc. It is my effort to continuously live the gospel, and I have learned that part of living the gospel is repenting as I know that I can not do it alone, I need Christ's love and forgiveness.
