Hi I'm Becky

I love being a wife, mother of 4 amazing kiddos, student and employee. I love people and...I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life is crazy beautiful and that's a choice I'm making! When I got married (16 yrs. ago) I knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom when I started having kids. Lucky for me, my husband wanted that too! For 13 wonderful years I dedicated my life to my kids realizing that I would never have those years again. However, I'd be lying if there were not days that I thought to myself "there's more to me than this." On those days my encouraging husband would remind me that "there's a time and season for all things" and that my kids needed their mom, not a daycare to give them their young foundation. So, I would crawl out of bed every day realizing that not much was going to be different about my day, as a stay-at-home mom, but I was thankful for the opportunity to be with my kids! Those days are gone now and my arms have been empty for a while and how blessed my life has been to not have the regrets of chasing my "more to me" dreams during those precious years. With all my kids in school it is now "my" season!! I am finishing up a degree in Sp. Ed. and hope to become a behavior specialist who works with students with special needs. This is my passion...working with students whose lives are challenged by their disability, not their personality!! My heart is full of gratitude for all the things I've done, am able to do and for all the things I know I will get to do. I realize "there's still more to me than this!!"

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a practicing mormon family, so I guess you could say I've been a "mormon" my whole life. However, that's not a completely true statement as I did not truly embrace the "mormon" beliefs until I gained a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of seventeen. This realization came about when I decided to complete a service project to earn my Young Women's Recognition Award, which is equivalent to the Eagle Scout for boys. It was during that service that I came to know, appreciate and love my older brother, Jesus Christ! Being a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me how to love my fellowmen with more compassion and tolerance. In a world that tries to thrust the acceptance of certain beliefs while making the claim that those who are unwilling are "simple-minded" people, I can appreciate their passionate belief systems. I, too, am very passionate about my belief system!! I am thankful for any group or religion that teaches accurately the teachings of the Savior because that learning makes for a better life. My life has been blessed because of the knowledge that I have of the Savior, Jesus Christ! I know that when I follow His example, my life is full of pleasant, happy experiences, not always easy but more pleasant!! When I am fully practicing my religion I am more patient, kind, soft-spoken, understanding, tolerant, loving and more Christlike...a force to be reckoned with! In a world full of confusion and mistreatment, I have an increased faith in humanity. I understand that we are all here to help each other make it back home to a loving Heavenly Father and an adoring big brother. Being a "mormon" helps my focus stay clear and motivated, not on a worldly standard, but a heavenly one. I once heard a quote: "If we all acted a little more like angels, Earth would be a little more like Heaven." My "mormon" beliefs remind & teach me how to be just that!

How I live my faith

Living my faith may not always seem easy, when compared to other standards, but I've never found it difficult. I try to look at my faith as a personal guide for greatness. I do not look at my faith as the standard for others but as the standard for me. I choose to live my faith with the understanding that I am not perfect, but seeking the perfect lifestyle of Jesus Christ. I also understand that "perfect" is a heavenly standard and I am an earthly being! I realize that because I am human (which I love) I am going to make mistakes, some bigger than others. These mistakes cannot get the best of me because they teach me more about myself and how I need to improve!! Believe me, I make plenty and it is easy to become discouraged! When I feel I've lost my footing it's not long before my loving Heavenly Father sends me reminders of who I need to be. That's when my faith is strongest, when I realize His influence in my life!! When I'm re-engerized I am more open to the love of others and am more loving towards my fellowmen. I live my faith by participating actively in the world. I live my faith by standing up for what's right in the world and not focusing on the ugly of the world. I live my faith by encouraging others to seek for a higher standard and come unto Christ. I live my faith by going to church to receive the necessary "cup-filling" for the week ahead. I live my faith by being a friend to many and serving those in need. I live my faith by doing my best to become a Daughter of God that He can look down upon and can proudly say "that's my girl!"
